Got it. When seeing the PCR test site on weekend and the prices there, I realized why this is all so extremely low. Would you pay 8000, plus 3000 if wanted quicker plus another 2000 if you wanted printed on paper, but only have light symptoms? No one would because it’s not affordable, instead of course for those today’s 7. lol

There was no logic in these numbers months and months again, owing to an obscene amount of factors involved. Why anyone thinks it’s still a good idea to post them daily is anyone’s guess.

And 100% of Japanese people continue to wear masks, even outside hiking in the mountains or driving alone, or doing their "business". They just follow the "rules".

Talked to a nurse the other day, and she said that she had been forbidden by her hospital to eat at restaurants (even alone) basically since this pandemic began. She just follows the "rules".

Somebody was telling me that their work at a major apparel retailer had mandated that all workers get vaccinated or not to come to work. So, she got vaccinated, even though she had doubts. Even though the government has said since this started that companies are forbidden to force workers to get vaccinated.

Can't get my head around it.

Suga-san was dealt a pair of 2's at best and played them the best he could.

My guess is Suga will eventually be remembered as one of the best world leaders during the coronavirus pandemic. Similar to how people now recognize Gordon Brown for his management of the financial crisis (compared to other completely inept world leaders at the time).

But many people believe Suga engineered his own exit.

They manipulated the numbers so he could be forced out of office

Similar to how people now recognize Gordon Brown for his management of the financial crisis (compared to other completely inept world leaders at the time).

He used the public treasury to recapitalise British banks while the public fell into economic misery. How was this any different from the approach of all other G7 countries?

In that respect it is very like Suga's pandemic response: bail out the financial elite and let the public fend for themselves.

Not to get too far off topic but his chairmanship of the G20 led to the united stimulus action of $1 trillion that averted another Great Depression - this was even with heavy German reluctance at the time. If you want a good comparison of world leaders and their policies at the time (and also leaders of the 1930s and their policies), I recommend Hall of Mirrors by Barry Eichengreen. Brown was probably the only leader at the time who understood the severity of the problem.

Under Suga, Japan had the lowest death rate of any G7 country and this is despite having the world's oldest population - and no lockdowns. With Suga's policies, Japan's population is now also the most vaccinated G7 country.

Can't get my head around it.

There are countless of scientific studies proving vaccines and masks work. What's hard to understand?
