Dear Covid, Please disappear from this planet

That there is proof that the official covid positive count is way off.

@thelonius - can you prove your statement?

That there is proof that the official covid positive count is way off.

The count shows the number of individuals that presented with symptoms that were then identified as Covid-19 cases. It's not way off - Japan is clearly doing better than other countries.

It would be great if we could figure out why.

Many have figured out the likely reasons why Japan is doing well.

Good job, Japan ... I guess

How does the number 7 with regard to 130 million odd people warrant all those millions blindly wearing masks and falling in line with massive lifestyle disruption, jobs lost, people slowly dying of stress?

It's not about health anymore, it's about control and making everyone's lives as miserable as possible. Your pre-pandemic life is gone forever, get ready for a lifetime of masks, vaccine passports and fear. I hope you have good memories from the good ol'times because that's whats left of them unfortunately.

Isn’t Prasheen’s wish so naively cute? lol Many kids write the same this year on their wishing postcards to Santa, I guess.

Great news, down compared to Saturday and Sunday.

Still, keep borders closed and stop the flights!

Yes, we've worked it out @Raw Beer. Adherence to vaccinations, by a HUGE majority of the eligible population. Mask wearing, general hygiene being the top 3. I assume you agree with all of those statements. Good Lad. Plus the borders being effectively closed.

Sensibly, people haven't experimented with any off label therapies and denied the existence of Covid, which would count for anybody who has even had mild symptoms but not been tested to sensibly self isolate.

Keep it up Japan. Whatever it takes.

What?! You think the Japanese are vaccinated more than everyone else? Or cleaner than everyone else?

They've been wearing masks long before the cases rose up during the last wave.

But what has changed that could have caused the cases to suddenly come crashing down around the end of August, and stay down? Hmmm, what could it be.....

And 11 were at the airports for international arrivals.

So more positives among the 3,500 (max) arrivals who all tested negative prior to boarding their flights to here, than in any prefecture today in Japan.

Unpleasant reading for you Raw Beer. Total rejection of your views in Japan.

@Simian Lane

”How does the number 7 with regard to 130 million odd people warrant all those millions blindly wearing masks and falling in line with massive lifestyle disruption, jobs lost, people slowly dying of stress?”

We are not blindly wearing mask. The nuisance of mask wearing, by the way a good part of our population had been well used to that pre COVID, has not been too big a deal. Seriously you can choose not to wear it, who cares… this is something we do to not have to see thousands of cases and hundreds of deaths per day here recently. That’s perhaps the price we pay perhaps for wearing a mask, all else equal. Disruption? Yes we miss going abroad seeing families and friends and places but other than that life goes on here inside Japan. Shops are packed, restaurants full, onsen ryokans booked etc. of course there have been business lost and people dying but if we are just behaving as you expect, the cost might have been a lot higher. No thanks!

@nakanoguy01

”That's actually not quite right. Researchers have identified a specific t-cell that Japanese people have which helps fight off infections. So in essence Japanese have stronger t-cells”

I don’t disagree with you and hope that’s true but what you mentioned remains to be seen so I wouldn’t bank too much on it.

Nationwide, 79.

Low number, keep it like this, Japan!

“Unless they’d like to stay locked away forever and continue to make testing expensive and difficult, sure, as I know many would be happy to continue this farce.

it is not a secret why these are the results. I feel very sorry for those still just wondering how Japan shows them and not seeing reality.”

yes, true we are locked in Japan. One can choose to go at their own risk. Many Companies, global ones, still ban non essential travels and to those places that still require quarantine. So what’s the point of going abroad now to places of higher risks? I wouldn’t do that. What do you know about reality in Japan? Do you live here? We love it here and feel so lucky to be in Japan right now and we thank God daily for that. We sincerely hope other countries will see better days soon so we will all be out of this mess.

Do you have any theories?

Yeah, cause you give such a positive cheery uplifting fear-free message.

Listen to yourself.

@Thomas Goodtime.

Sorry if what I said made you feel you were included. I didn’t mean that. I just wanted to spoke to myself, my circle really, a lot of which are ordinary japanese and gaijin. I hope one day you will find a better time somewhere else. I will certainly be happy for you.

@Thomas Goodtime. Thomas said earlier to day “I don’t feel lucky to be here at all”. In another post, pasted below, he said “It's nice to see Japan doing such things, showing compassion to other nations, and increasing diversity of the country.

What's not to like?” These might not be related but am a bit confused.

First death due to Omicron confirmed in the UK.

Japan is clearly doing better than other countries.

It would be great if we could figure out why.

Closing the border

Strict quarantine

Masks, hygiene, not touching in public

Vaccinations

But all those things are hard to replicate in the West or developing countries. People can't follow rules as well. Refusal to wear masks and get vaccinated. Oh and the government very slow to close borders.
