Who cares about last Monday?! The figures will drop from this week due to the SoE. But I'm sure you'll have some "theory" as to why (rolling eyes and smgdfh).

Most disturbing is how for the past few days, they have refused to publicly post the number of tests conducted in these articles.

While I realize we can likely (though not without a bit of digging) find them on the official COVID website, you can't possibly tell me that this isn't intentional. I bet seeing the ongoing and shamefully low number of tests next to the new number of positive cases is so damning, they're hoping people won't bother checking and making it more difficult to do so.

This is actually unreal.

Ho hum. Another day, another useless number.

How many people died from covid? How many were seriously ill? What were their overall state of health upon contracting covid in the first place? This is the important information.

Otherwise, it's as useless as reporting how many people caught the common cold.

Does anyone have a record of what the numbers were this time last year, when it was decided things were too risky to hold the Olympics?

Fewer cases in Tokyo today compared to yesterday is extremely significant because it could so easily have gone the other way. It might be due to the state of emergency. It might be due to fewer people gathering for work due to Golden Week, but keeping the numbers down in Tokyo is absolutely important.

No, due to the way Japan tests, you have to compare the same day from previous weeks. Japanese media are pointing out that the previous several Mondays all had new cases in the 300s or 400s. Hitting almost 800 today is a huge jump in the wrong direction.

All instructions were in Japanese and not alot of Japanese respected the instructions.

as i clearly stated we have peaked and will see a steady decline of cases. now we have new emergency guidances from Suga-san and Koike-san.

@tooheysnew: Looking at the timestamps on these posts (first time I've been on the net as its GW and outside has been fairly nice) - I think its pretty clear that one person really doesn't have anything better to do.

It's Golden Week for gods sake. We should all be outside in the fresh air, having a drink with friends and enjoying the extra days off work. Life is too short to worry about this today. We can't travel, We can't get a vaccine. Let's make the most of what we do have. Some of you are SO depressing.

Be safe, keep your hands clean, your masks on, stay away from silly crowded places. It really isn't rocket science.

This nurses thing needs to die. Nurses can choose where they work. Hardly any are working to combat COVID. They should be fighting the disease, but they aren’t. If you look at Japan’s numbers - Hardly anyone is sick.
