How I wish we could start getting some figures that show the trends, rather than this robotic spitting out of daily random numbers on age groups, and comparison with the day before.

For example, the national 7 day average of daily positive tests was 2000 a month ago, now it is 3000. In Tokyo it was 400, now it is 700.

National 7 day average daily deaths were 20 a month ago, now they are in the high 40s. In Tokyo there were 2 a day, now there are 7 a day.

Latest figures are a of couple of days ago, so a bit on the low side.

Utter madness, most cities and municipalities are going on with holding Coming of Age

ceremonies on January 11. Seems the powers that be are doing their utmost best to make sure the virus

spreads more. GOTO campaigns, Coming of Age Ceremonies. Well the reasoning is that they are 20 year old

even if they are infected they will be asympthomatic or mild at worst. Zero consideration that they might get

infected and pass in onto their parents and grand parents. Well with limited tests, they will fly below the radar.

Are there any reputable experts on epidemiology in this country ? None is calling out for ceremonies to be called off in the face of cases and fatalities rising. All talk and focus now is on the new strain when the old strain was never dealt with.

Covid-19 data. From the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/

Number of people hospitalized by COVID. Today, Sunday December 27: 2261 people.

Statistics for Dec 27, 2020(Day-over-day change: +82 persons)

Mild-moderate and Serious symptoms data. They are already included in the total number of people hospitalized. It should also be remembered that data on severe symptoms are already reflected in the Japan Today article. And there is no need to mention them again in the comments.

Patients hospitalized by COVID in Tokyo Prefecture, per 100,000 inhabitants. Today, Sunday December 27 is 16,23 points.

The total number of people hospitalized in Tokyo Prefecture for coronavirus is 2261. As of December 27.

And the total number of people hospitalized per 100,000 inhabitants, for coronavirus. In Tokyo Prefecture, it is 16.23. What it means, for example. What in a district of 100,000 inhabitants. 16 people living in that district are hospitalized for coronavirus. And the situation is getting progressively worse.

This data is very bad. And unsustainable over time. Because in 15 days Tokyo will suffer the true magnitude of the 3rd wave. At least the beginning of the nightmare, as far as the number of deaths is concerned.

Hahaha how'd you get a down vote for stating that?

Even now theres some one who refuses to correlate deaths with number of cases?

Amazing

in Japan it doesn’t matter who and how many get infected as it’s all about obedience and getting you to comply without force

Yeh yeh yeh, lots more people infected - big deal.

It doesn’t matter what day it is - every day is Groundhog Day.

Daily deaths seem to be averaging around 40 to 50 now.

Chillaxer at Sandy

708 results is very very low in comparison to many. Japan is just lucky they have the CCP anti virus genes....

I give up. People here cannot read or just respond to the title. LEARN TO READ!

The numbers do not represent TODAY!!!!!! Read the darn article and all the others giving numbers daily.

I notice the numbers in Osaka and Hokkaido have been down for the past few days. Hopefully, that's a good sign for the rest of the country.

I agree ee, no panic and i don’t think we will see a panic in Japan but it does not mean we should believe the misinformation or deliberate immittance of information.

we also must demand immediate ratification of at least the Pfizer and Modena vaccines and not let Suga get away with more delays of the vaccination implementation. We can’t wait for his friendly companies to have copied them for vaccination. I hope for once, making money, will make place for the people’s interest. Just this once ?

Tests done on Christmas Eve reveal people infected some days before then. The ever-rising numbers are the result of the seasonal parties and young folk thinking they’re immune.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

A lot of the cases are younger people who were probably infected by other people in their 20s or 30s they work or socialize with. Many of those would either be asymptomatic or did not have serious enough symptoms to get the free test. This would mean the real number of infections in that age group might be much higher.

In relative terms (using the day of the week model for comparison) still increasing here. Also the subway conductor infections are worrisome. It would be unwise to think they have not infected some passengers as well.

In Japan Christmas Eve has no particular significance so I do not think that is meaningful here.

Please please please read the articles before posting...misinformation.

The number is the result of 9,007 tests conducted on Dec 24. DECEMBER 24

24,25,26,27 Get it???

1 in 690 infected, a week ago, yesterday 1 in 601, today 1 in 591... those are the speedy development numbers of interest, showing how the viruses reach out and go for catching you, you and yes, also you... In other words, you should avoid all places with around 591 people accumulated, but of course you also have to subtract one or two standard deviations. So in fact, just stay at home, while you still can, damned!

Saturday, Christmas eve, weekend, so the numbers might have dropped a little. Still way too many. Expect more to come with the new year!

The numbers are indeed from Christmas eve, but it was a Thursday, not Saturday. And only 500 less tests than the previous day, which was a record high. Let's continue to be careful, but not panic.
