Here specifically in Japan , all of the numbers matter but it needs to start with a proper testing system. Minimal testing has never allowed anyone here to truly understand how bad the problem is. With omicron being the deadliest variant of Covid in Japan to date, mass testing is vital so they can get the infected out of circulation with the general population. Japan is actually more open than it should be and here we are , the start of the new business and school year and once again or still…. Covid is outta control.

The BA.2 sub-variant seems to be more contagious than the original omicron, but it does not appear any more dangerous. It would be much more useful to lead these stories with the number of deaths than the number of infections.

@John Noun
I'm hoping that the reason is precisely not becaue they were very young but it's probable, municipalities might be prohibited by law to disclose certain info for the very young

Down a bit anyway. Test numbers?
@ian
It's strange how those numbers aren't disclosed.
Too much hiding going on it seems.
