And after the election the numbers of infections will magically plummet

Don't know why people are still focusing on case numbers. Australia has shifted focus to hospitalisations (Real ones, where people are inpatient and staying in hospital. Not calling every case a hospitalisation because someone saw a doctor once)

Some states in Australia have 50k active cases, but only 200 in hospital. Meaning for the vast majority of people it's not an issue.

this wave seems to be everywhere- Europe as well as North America is being hit hard, but it seems that serious illness is not on the rise as most are vaccinated, boosted and many have already had the virus. So while infection is definitely everywhere, it doesn't seem that serious illness is though.

At my office, this week 6 people tested positive. A bit unnerving

As I predicted yesterday the numbers have gone up again..

Only because of the continual testing. All these people supposedly positive for Covid- where are they all ? In hospital, dying ect, ?

Seems it's a nastier bug than the previous one - symptom-wise at least."

Not in my anecdotal evidence.... basically the same symptoms as catching a cold.

The official survival rate from Covid is more than 99 percent.

A recent Lancet study determined that the vaccines prevented 20 million deaths. Thankfully those 20 million weren’t taking the advice of all the “experts” on this message board.

Okinawa--2000+ !!!

Japan is getting hit hard, as predicted.

For the benefit of you anti everything clan, The vaccines have and continue to work exactly as advertised! So stop making up stories! Big pharma …. And they are no friend of mine…. Never once said that the vaccines prevent infection! No medical Dr with any sense of credibility has ever stated that the vaccines prevent infection …. The vaccines , specifically the highly effective and SAFE mRNA vaccines help your body spike proteins to help reduce your chances of getting a severe case! And don’t even suggest they don’t work on omicron at all…. That’s another whacked on conspiracy theory. Omicron has been the deadliest variant of Covid in Japan to date….. and if we look here and around the world….. the vaccines have saved millions of lives ….. prevented millions more hospitalizations…. Imagine just how much worse omicron would be without the vast majority of responsible people vaccinated!!!! And NO!!!! Herd immunity does not exist with Covid and catching Covid is not better for you than the vaccines….

Majority of cases are from people with 2+ shots. Go figure.

Lol that's so simple.

How long have you been trying to figure it out?

6 people in hospital with serious symptoms?? Oh dear looks like it’s time to mask off, open up and relax!

So if the vaccines “work” why is there a third wave?? Rolls eyes…

Seems it's a nastier bug than the previous one - symptom-wise at least.

Probably all the young stalwarts should have caught vanilla omicron when that was doing the rounds.

Anyway, doubt we'll be seeing the same numbers in the tens of thousands that vanilla omicron produced.

I don't think many would be up for another state of emergency.

Do masks, hand sanitizers and vaccines stop these waves?

Obviously not.

I think everyone knows that by now,

Elvis, unfortunately there are still people around who think the vaccine is the silver bullet, even the reality all over the world with 4x vaccinated and increasing cases and increasing hospitalization, shows us it is not!

On the Osaka/Kansai TV news we were told to social distance by 2meters between people at Suma Beach.

It's nothing to be afraid of. What's the point of getting three jabs then?

Rushed to check any events/illumination etc., all 【中止】cancelled here in Tokyo.....for how long they plan to make our lives even more miserable...no fireworks for the 3rd year....wished I could go enjoy LIFE somewhere abroad for a while without worrying about the headache that is to come back to this place

I think it'll continue for quite some time yet. As well being zealously risk-averse, I think deep down that the Japanese in general enjoy being miserable. Maybe it's a Buddhist thing about suffering. Dunno. They're not happy unless they're not happy. And for that, COVID is the gift that keeps on giving.

My wife just reminded me today is Tanabata day.

Huge numbers again

Nice to see relatively low serious cases despite the bump in cases. Looks like despite newer strains being less familiar to the immune system, its no more serious than earlier variants.
