I respect the fact digging but its's so strongly worded it almost feel like a announcement rather neutral news.

Japan the one who open up itself to those incident by running crippled power plant.

-27 ( +6 / -33 )

There is a planned release of water (for decades) which is radioactive-fact

Marine life, can and will ingest these toxins-fact

Ingesting radioactive substances, tritium included, is injurious to human health-fact

Pictorial and fantastical misrepresentations aside, there is still a concern about the current actions being undertaken which should not be considered harmless as the official narrative would have us believe

-14 ( +9 / -23 )

The misinformation is the Gov. controlling the media.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

Maybe they should have done it secretly, you know, like their neighbour China.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

May be Japan Should have released the water without announcing it like China, Russia, and all other polluters, this is what you get for being Transparent.

The radioactivity from the release from Fukushima which is overseen by the IAEA is far far below what both China and South Korea dump into the sea each year from their nuclear.

Pure hypocrisy and false information. Obviously nothing more than an anti-Japan action.

China/CCP has a desire to destroy Japans economy! This is one avenue to achieve that goal!

I just wonder how many people has been dying from radiations and how many people have been suffering from radiations in Japan. As far as I know, no one died from radiations and no one has been suffering from them. About Chernobyl accident in 1986 hundreds/thousands of people died in 5 years and so many people are still suffering from radiations. Its been already 12 years since Fukushima Power plant accident. It seems to me Japan have been under good control.

Lies, fake news, childish acts, and whipping up national sentiment by the Chinese government: what a huge, huge surprise.

The Chinese government isn't interested in the truth: if it were it would listen to the Chinese experts (and others) at the IAEA, and join the initiative it has just shunned:

https://japantoday.com/category/national/china-rejects-japan's-suggestion-of-joining-fukushima-water-framework

All it wants is political leverage. For China, everything is political, every day of the week.

Marine life, can and will ingest these toxins-fact

These are not "facts." The effects of radiation depend entirely on the type of radiation, the dose, and the time taken to receive the dose. There is naturally-occurring radiation in all sorts of places, all over the world, including in your body right now.

The IAEA says it's safe (whether you believe them or not is up to you):

https://www.iaea.org/sites/default/files/iaea_comprehensive_alps_report.pdf

Based on its comprehensive assessment, the IAEA has concluded that the approach and activities to the discharge of ALPS treated water taken by Japan are consistent with relevant international safety standards. Furthermore, the IAEA notes the controlled, gradual discharges of the treated water to the sea, as currently planned and assessed by TEPCO, would have a negligible radiological impact on people and the environment.

On your point about marine life - that's exactly why TEPCO has been testing this by rearing fish in the water (again, monitored by the IAEA):

Their is more active radiation in our air every day than that released by the Fukishima plant. But if you want to measure REAL radiation poisoning, try measuring the 13 nuclear plants in China and the untreated wasted they pump into the ocean. China has the dirtiest rivers, air and land mass in the world. And if any one thinks for one second that the CCP are safe guarding its own people because it cares about them, Then look hard about how they have treated all the flood victims, millions have been left homeless, with no food, water, or shelter, no money, and will suffer for the rest of their lives because they lost every thing. And what did their loving, caring, government, the wonderful CCP do.....absolutely nothing. They sent no aid, no emergency supply's (my dog, they even stopped ordinary citizens from helping out). Not one official every visited any of the affected areas. So please every one, especially the media and worldwide governments, especially Japan, Fight back!!!! Tell the world exactly what XI and the CCP are doing . All the threats coming from the CCP about Fukishima are for political gain only.

@gogogo

Well, it is kind of what it is. It is not fact check articles - which are linked at the bottom- but a summary of the said articles whom you will be able to read fully by clicking on provided link. Considering each article can be quite long, I guess it was a way to get the information accross to busy/lazy/... people.

Perhaps a line more clearly stating it would have been better.

Been to China on more than one occasion, and I believe there are far more issues with pollution and chemical waste problems that needs to be addressed there than released cooling water that's been approved by a well known certified body. Back your claims up with relevant data to support your accusations China.

Isabelle,

I totally agree with your assertive and matter-of-fact comments above - 100%. Very well put.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Curious that the fate of Yasuhiro Sonoda was left out of this. He drank the water and is fine as far as I know, not that I advocate the dump of tritium water at all.

But the Chinese internet is claiming he died after suffering cancer for years.

What’s the difference between misinformation and untruths? One comes from activists and the other comes from the government.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Misinformation from TEPCO?? Perish the thought…

@isabelle

You don’t understand what radiation is.

Comprehending that before opining on ‘safety’

might be a start

……

Everything I wrote is factual:

There is a planned release of water (for decades) which is radioactive-fact

Marine life, can and will ingest these toxins-fact

Ingesting radioactive substances, tritium included, is injurious to human health-fact

Disprove my facts by showing a study where humans have ingested tritium over decades at 10 becquerels a day.

You cannot, there isn’t one because nobody is stupid enough to do such a dangerous study.

Also, you are aware that radioactivity is a source of cancer

Nobody can ever say what a safe limit is since all humans are not exactly the same

Comparing other countries is not what the article is concerned about and even if it were, that is not relevant

Japan is adding to the mix-that is the point

The wastewater tested under the supervision of the iaea and the waterwater dumped into the ocean are different.

The tested wastewater has a volume of only 10,000 cubic meters max, the dumped wastewater was more than a million tons

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

It’s just destructive to think our ocean and it inhabitants should have a tainted water supply because of the man made disaster. Who polices the decision makers? Why are monetary provisions paid to business owners when everyone’s water supply is infected. This is not sufficient.

Transparancy of the release of the water and all the data which pertains to it is necessary. Efforts should be maintained to protect future generations health and food supplies.

Tritium is also contained in rain and drinking water, so getting wet in the rain is also a bad idea. You should stop drinking tap water.

Swimming in the sea is also not recommended, as nuclear power plants around the world, including China, emit tritium.

And since the oceans have been polluted not only with tritium but also with microplastics from China before Japan discharged them, let's stop consuming seafood.

X-rays are also exposed to radiation, so please stop.

Ultraviolet rays from the sun can also cause skin cancer, so avoid going outside.

The best thing to do is to be shivering at home.
