So Al-Qaida is watching Japan now -more body and fingerprint scanners then...........?
nandakandamanda
One of the problems in Japan, in general, is that old people seem to have most of the money and it is not filtering down to young people. There are of course exceptions where some old people have ended up with nothing and with no seeming support.
smartacus
I doubt that al-Qaida is in a position to offer any society any advice on anything.

I'd rather be old in Japan (think 80s+) than old in Afghanistan (subtract 25 years or so).
And tho it doesn't need mentioning, I'd rather be a woman in Japan, than a woman there. (apart from the longevity factor!!)
anglootaku
What kind of made up silly content is that? they have nothing else to report but to make things up..
ExportExpert
Why does anything by al qaida even get reported, why bother given them any attention at all, dont feed the troll as they say !!
Virtuoso
Whereas al-Qaida either executes them or orders themselves to blow themselves up -- and presto! -- no problem caring for the elderly!
GW
me thinks alqaida dont know much about how muslims go about their lives let alone others
tmarie
Have to say it is pretty bad when known terrorists are also "in the know" about the elderly situation here!
oberst
With the al-Q model, there won't be any elderly " problem "......they blew themselves up before they get to be old.
codomo
the internet robbed status from old folks. younger people realized that googling with their mobile is easier way than calling their parents for knowing anything. and the economic depression doesn't allow those old folks to give help to their children. maybe islamic model is worth to try if it is pissible though.

Yeah I agree with you! This reminds me of the comment made by the already caught high school kid for committing ore ore sagi. He said " I did ore ore sagi because old people do not use their money and the economy is negatively effected by it. Old people should be blamed"
DutchHusband
Al-Qaida, we're with you!!! We must respect old people, as well as old cultueres like Islaam Arab. A friend of a friend is Al-Qaida!!
Gaijintoday
^^^wow, really?^^^
The_True
Guys that is the US Gov, telling Japan in a not too direct way to be with the time!!
BurakuminDes
Wow - crazy stuff. Of all world cultures, I would say the Chinese and Japanese care for and respect their elders more than most. In my opinion, old fogies are often valued much more than kids here, unfortunately! Those crazies are talkin' smack again. Nothing a bit of good ol' waterboarding wouldn't sort out...

Japanese elders now paying enough for their mistakes done at their Young Ages. 30, 40 year back they were the parents ..who were running for work and money .. for worldly pleasure, If a man does not Gamble. does not Drink alcohol does not go for Prostitutes... he was not a man , Its a Japanese saying ( These 3 things strictly prohibited in Islam and Other Major religions . ) As intelligent animal ,They work hard and earned the 2 nd largest economy in the world, in a short time period , It is not to be surprised... In animal world ... no any animal take care of its old parents....right? If one day Japanese and others understand that they are no more Apes , or that they are not just an intelligent animals by an accident, and understand the divinity of Human they will come to the right path..and will treat the old .****
buggerlugs
How about critisizing Japan where it needs to be critisized, the plight of children being murdered and beaten by those supposed to protect them... Their parents!! At least they didn't try to say that they (al al) treat their women well!! Imagine the field day they'd have if they found about love hotels.

Two sides of the coin, this one may be tender side of Al-Qaida (?)

Their word of advice will be simple: GIVE THE CUSTODY OF THE KIDS TO THE MOTHER? IS THIS COUNTRY CRAZY?
I'm actually every bit as surprised to learn that Al-Qaeda offers constructive social criticism for a society of non-Abrahamic pagans.

Their word of advice will be simple: JUDICIAL BIAS IN GIVING THE CUSTODY OF THE KIDS TO THE MOTHER? IS THIS COUNTRY CRAZY? I wonder what they say about step-children abuse in this society that does not encourage the adoption of children who are not related by blood, and is yet significantly less abhorrent about marriage to divorcees and widow with kids.
I'm actually every bit as surprised to learn that Al-Qaeda offers constructive social criticism for a society of non-Abrahamic pagans.

This headline made me think: "What the...? Al-QAIDA???"
Serrano
I'd like to take this opportunity to criticize al-Qaida over how they kill and maim civilians and cause untold misery.
just-a-guy
It wont takes very long, the al-Qaida will recuirt their elderly to carry out suicide bomb attacks' when their young men dies out!
philsandoz
It is about time somebody had the guts to tell the truth about how the Japanese mistreat their elderly and how a more perfect future could be achieved. If Islam were to be rooted in this depraved country, no doubt the elderly would be left to live and eventually die in poverty, as they do in Pakistan, Afghanistan and practically any other Stan you can mention, which would allow the rest of us to stop paying their healthcare and pension costs and instead use the money to live the life of Riley -- or should that be the life of Ali?

phil - LOL!

Who gives a damn what a terrorist organisation says, except to understand them for the sole purpose of destroying them.

"An al-Qaida magazine..."
FOLKS, this is in their mag.
Hmmm... I wonder if it's their ladies' magazine?
jinjapan
is it april fool's already ?!?!?!

Give me Japan over a Muslim society every time.
Honestly, what do Muslim countries offer the world?
They don't make or design any useful products.
They don't have any good entertainment, music or movies.
The women are all wrapped up in black sheets so we don' t know if they are cute or not.
They just seem to be male dominated societies where any fun is stamped on and made illegal.
No wonder so many Muslims are emigrating to the west, but nobody wants to live in a Muslim country...
hatsoff
I won't hold my breath for their comparison of the treatment of women or education for females....
Antonios_M
Instead of giving advices to one of the most advanced nations in the world, Al-Qaida should focus on something more beneficial for its country like giving up their weapons and helping in the reconstruction of it.
Yeah, keep dreaming...
philsandoz
James:
"99 percent of the wars across the world involve Islam... " Apart from the fact that you are exaggerating, see http://www.religioustolerance.org/curr_war.htm, don't you find it interesting that Christianity is involved in an equal number of religious conflicts? Perhaps it would be better to advise the Japanese to stay away from all religions except the indigenous Shinto -- after all such an animistic faith couldn't cause any problems, could it?

@some14some
They, al-qaida, indeed has nice ideas once in a while. Though the problem is mostly in the execution. When Iraqi branch of al-qaida decided that smoking is bad for your health and is against Islam's teachings, they enforced a smoking ban by cutting the fingers of smokers. Can't help but wonder what methods they will use to force people to look after their parents and grand parents.
Gurukun
LOL!! They (al-qaida), say this and then blow up random by-standers with suicide bombers, to include the elderly...even the non-muslim elderly.
That was the worst sales pitch I've ever heard. Hilarious!
presto345
Is this a joke?
ubikwit
i believe that i've read on this site of instances of elderly people shoplifting with the intention og getting caught so they could have the shelter of a prison cell rather than be homeless.
i think that is indicative of a breakdown not only in the social safety net, but in the confucian values system that esteems the elderly, as opposed to the intergenerational type tensions more common in the west.
it is hard to deny that japan, like the usa, has a government that has misplaced its priorities.
it's a government of the tepcos, by the tepcos, and for the tepcos.
buchailldana
And in next weeks issue Al Qaida tells us how women should hold onto their man and other dating tips..cant wait.
billyshears
It's amazing how a small group of fringe extremists have managed to make themselves a media icon around the world. Or maybe the reality is some group a lot more powerful have managed to make al quaida the successor to the Soviet Union.
Donald Taylor
al qaida is humane, they just strap a bomb on their elders and send them off to meet allah
SuperLib
Criticizing suicide? Are they concerned that the elderly aren't taking any innocent bystanders with them?
Arthur Dumbolov
AlQaida, first start helping people and give money to poors, not just babble around between blowing up random people in subways. Then we, maybe, will look at your notices.
Arthur Dumbolov
And, Japanese people care very good about their old people, much better than western countries. I try to mimic that behaviour and helping to my grandma too.
Kuniko Oyakawa
As being a Japanese elderly and knowing Afganistan in the 70's, I would prefer to live in Afganistan than in Japan. There are certainly hidden discrimination against elderly in Japan. Only rich elderly are considered and respected but not average pensioners.
villagehiker
In my 60's, I am always treated with very kind respect when living in Japan. This is true of Tokyo and Wakayama. I visit Japan on business, but do not look affluent--mostly because I'm not by Western standards, so that is not the reason for receiving respect. It is more about polite culture. It may have something to do with Shinto and Buddhism, but am not sure of that. Though a very small group, Japanese Christians are very nice, too. Al-Qaida-Islam treats me with respect only when I submit to its laws. Beware of Al-Qaida-Islam, Japan.
genjuro
So this is in Al-qaida's magazine. Do they have ads for burqas and explosive belts, too?
Noliving
Codomo what exactly do you know of this "Islamic model" if any at all?
nath
ROFL, LMAO. Funny article given the source.
nath
Because blowing up innocents is the correct way? Al-Qaida? Seriously?
nath
There are many muslims living in Japan who have aged and are doing much better than in Afganistan. I suppose in China as well. Al qaida is peddeling a lot of hogwash in its article.
Thunderbird
I just hope they don't blow up one of themselves, killing a dozen of elders in a crowded Nagoya/Tokyo station just to show the Japanese how to respect the elderly.
hatsoff
@vladrin
LOL, I don't think you meant this, but that is EXACTLY what is wrong with Al-Qaida. Off with their heads!
