Fwiw, even the inventor of the mRNA platform, Dr Brandon Malone, now says he can not recomment this particular vaccine in the current form. (And he is of course no opponent of mRNA technology, seeing that he created it.)

My company started vaccinations for employees this week too, I don't know the logistics of how we secured the vaccines honestly, but I know we have doctors on payroll.

I will get my first shot on Thursday. Which, great news for me, but it still feels like the government is really dropping the ball here if the only people that can get vaccinated work at large companies.

The devolution process of the vaccine remains a noble idea, but disgustingly remains symbolic. The bureaucrats want to look as if they are doing something. Just look and the numbers of shots they a giving per day and cry. 50 shots a day then 300. It doesn't inspire any form of confidence at all.

Normally, it would be a shame that the private sector has to take this on to such an extent, and only because the government absolutely cannot handle it. But here, on the other hand, the whole process is still commended. Only very few people think about the cause.

Especially if we take into account what kind of health insurance we pay, what its level is compared to the average European country and how much we pay for it compared to the average European country.

.. And I haven't to have spoken to a single person who has been left 'immobile' in the arm of either Pfizer, AZ or Moderna! Where do you come up with this nonsense. Sore arm after vaccine shot is quite normal.

Most seem to be achy and feverish after AZ (not even using in Japan) and less so with Pfizer if anything at all.

@Ashley : They have been sticking to the 21 days for Pfizer here religiously, as long as the individual turms up for the appointment of course.

Moderna is anywhere between 28-35 days and my wife's friends wife who had her first shot of Moderna in Ohtemachi has been given an appointment on the 35th day.

I'm sure your doctor friend will appreciate your top tip as you seem to think he is unaware.

Pfizer is OK out to 42 days fwiw, and may even be slightly more effective if over 3 weeks. Ongoing studies.

These airline pilots have been globe hopping since the pandemic began and are just now being vaccinated?

Unbelievable combination of incompetence and irresponsibility on the part of Japan's Health Services.

Assume you are having Pfizer limiting your trip to 3 weeks and then 2 weeks in Quarantine here. May I ask which State you are returning from and if you are required to stay in a Hotel for 3 days?

I was lucky to be able to get Pfizer shots in the US. No 3 day quarantine coming back here. And if I had come back from Tennessee for example, I would not have told Japan's quarantine crew anyway. My vaccinations, plus two negative covid tests convince me I didn't pick anything up sitting with one other person in the cabin with me.

Since the photo is of an airline pilot, I asked one of the Japanese FA's on my flight if she got the shot while she was stopping over in the US---but she said no because the airline requested all flight staff not to get the shot overseas.

@Oxycodin There are very few homeless people in Japan. I'm sure they will be eligible just like everyone else.

Yes, I meant 1.1 million shots. Whilst not that impressive in a country of 125 million people all requiring 2 shots using Pfizer or Moderna it's a considerable step in the right direction after the awful start.

And honestly does anybody care if they have a sore arm for a few hours or even a couple of days if it potentially keeps you out of hospital?

It makes sense that Japanese airline pilots would get their vaccine shots first. Where did they go to get them? The US? Taiwan?

Like TrevorPeace, my arm had no limit in mobility. There was a sore spot after the first jab but only when directly touched. I felt hardly any pain after the second jab.

Better drunk and vaccinated then just drunk. At least now the government has handed responsibility over to large companies, If you work for a small company, well bad luck you should have tried harder at primary school.

I wouldn't think you'd be going all that way for the J&J vaccine would you? As much I'd be happy to have it right now - it does not seem to be the Vaccine of choice and is going usused. In fact as of now J&J are not planning deliveries within the US right now.

I would say that a November timeline is reachable for those that actually WANT the vaccine, which is probably closer to 90 million at the most. Several days recently 1.1 shots have been administered in a day, that is without these additional measures.

For the November target to be reachable, they need about 2 million shots per day. There is no evidence of that happening. or even promises or hopes.

If you do the math, the current pace is sufficient to reach the November goal. Of course, we need to exclude minors and some outliers.

My company has already applied for this too - we have an onsite company doctor who normally provide the yearly flu vaccination so all we need now is an appropriate fridge and the vaccines.

All good news. We all know that the Government have done a useless job at vaccine roll out. For better or worse farming it out to private enterprise and subsidizing the cost is clearly the only way forward here.

However it's done this makes a November target achievable.

Not saying I agree with this, as the Government should have taken control properly, but they haven't and this may well be the best way to get this very important jab into peoples arms so we can start moving back to a normal life
