Wow, specialized box, venting , insulated ....a lot of preventative measures taken to halt the spread of a fire .....how about finding the cause of these possible fire issues. Definitly won't be using Boeing on a long trip

I believe there are upwards of 100 787's now in service (and flying everyday I assume), so when will every minor repair or glitch stop making headlines?

Hasn't been a fire since. Maybe they inadvertently fixed the cause.

Duh. I have been in planes that before takeoff somethting breakes and we have to wait for another plane.

So a possible fault detected during routine maintenance and repaired the next day now warrants coverage by Reuters News Service? A British news service reporting on something to keep the alarm raised about the major competition to Airbus (which is partially funded by Britain).
I'm sure there was no bias involved when deciding to run this story internationally about a routine maintenance repair. /sarcasm

@globalwatcher: My flights to Frankfurt and Singapore do not count as 'short flights'? Please explain your definition of several 7 hour and 3 12.5 hour flights in the last 3 months? I have no idea how many times the flight from Denver was 'interrupted'. I can, however, inform you that all my flights were on time.

When you are spiraling downward and are running out of breathable air .,.,that's when your loyalty to this crap aircraft will sink in as .....this was a bad choice of transport !!

@Crazedinjapan: Really, what an hysterical comment. Its not loyalty to the aircraft, it just happens to be flying some of the routes I fly on a regular basis. In any case, as pointed out above there have been 98 deliveries of so far from an order book of almost 1000 aircraft. 2-3 years down the line you might not have much a choice on a lot of routes as airlines replace ageing 767's and first generation 777's. What will you do? Get on an ocean liner? Drive? My guess is you will have been on this plane within 2 years. I suggest you do some research about problems with other new planes at launch before denoting it a bad choice of transport. Most of the media attention has been drawn to the problems with the 787 as its the first composite aircraft, simple as that. Tomorrow I will be flying on an A330 and on Monday a 777-200. Are you aware of the filter problems that existed for 13 years on some 777 models, and that nearly caused a fatal crash at Heathrow airport? Complete Hull write off. Did you travel on one of them between 1995-2008. Because if you did, you were in a lot more danger than you are getting on a 787 now.

What was Boeing 'thunking'? No idea Elbuda. Maybe about the future? Maybe about the enviroment? In any case, only fllight to Mexico from Japan is now on, yep, you guessed it. A 787. Better get used to it amigo.

I am learning something from someone like you. You trust engineering and technology too much with no filtering process.. I would like to tell you another big boo-boo of 787 was discovered today, and it was grounded again until further notice. They found a frosting problem while it is going through thunder storms in high altitude.

Yes 'globalwatcher', I am well aware of this. However this is with GE engines. Since I fly ANA with RR engines it is not a problem. What is this 'filtering' nonsense. If that is the case why will you not answer me if you flew on a 777 between 1995-2008?
