15 jump into sea after fishing boat catches fire off Kagoshima

Trying to picture people using fishing rods off a 14-ton ship.

What I can't understand is why was 12-year-old boy, amongst all of the men whom were 3-60 years old fishing? 

I'm guessing he went fishing with his dad. Not so unusual, I think.

Paradoxical, considering fishery ships are made of steel , have ice chambers for the caught fish and are surrounded by in fact unlimited masses of water all around.

Good that everybody was rescued alive, and I hope all get soon discharged and make a full recovery.

Yesterday there were so many boats out fishing it was almost unreal. Sunday plus calm, warm weather?

Bummer, what an unfortunate end to a fun days fishing! Still, salt water is beneficial for burns.
