this is great news, but how is this going to stop it from happening again? I don't think there would be increased security at the libraries.

Actually the media has reported that all the Frank-related books have been removed from the stacks and relocated to places within sight of the libraries' check-out counter.

nice. I hope that's enough.

THE AFH is saying don't worry about the missing or damaged copies of the diaries. They've got plenty to replenish. Its directed to the Japanese perpetrator(s) that evil will not win. You just have to read between the lines.

And its a nice gesture. Technically speaking, people should donate to AFH instead of the other way around. But nevertheless, a nice gesture.

Won't be long before the Japanese fascists tear them up again.

There is a lot of evil in this world, but the good always outstrips the evil by a long way. Those who do evil can do their worst but they will never ever be able to win over the inherent nature of good that is in the majority in humans and love is a far more powerful emotion than hate. As the late great Nelson Mandela said, you have to be taught to hate, but every human is born able to love.

So the book-ripper's actions actually have had the opposite effect of what he/she intended- there will be more copies of Anne Frank books than ever in Tokyo libraries now, and for a while more people will be reading them. Hope that annoys whoever it was!

I would say that it has actually had the desired affect. Is it so hard to figure it out ?
