I'm glad the Japanese team succeeded, but didn't previous trips many years ago by other countries bring back moon rocks?

Lots of work already done on this.

I remember reading a Science article years ago where the Oxygen isotopes trapped in the rocks were close to identical - apparently a key factor - meaning they originated from the same source.

This supported the "Big Impact" theory.

This is true. But that is from a different part of the moon. Just like Earth, there are different types of rocks from different parts of Earth. For example: sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic. Each are different and need to be studied.

According to JAXA, their mission "aims to unravel the origins of the Moon through composition analysis of rocks estimated to be derived from the lunar mantle using a “multi band spectral camera. To achieve this, it is essential to land in the vicinity of the targeted crater, enabling precise observations that can only be accomplished through pinpoint landing. "

Yes, but like Earth the rocks vary all around. Not the same everywhere.

Lots of work already done on this.

But more needs to be done and some of the work is outdated.

No it's not true, Europeans is around 10%. Can you show where did you find this informaion?

To be fair, this article is not well written. It doesn't specify why these rocks are different from those previously analyzed. It's obvious that they were specifically targeted, but leaving this info out still leads to all the "so what?" comments.

That is the whole concept of science, new knowledge accumulates on top of previous knowledge, it is not like everybody goes back to zero in their research.

If the findings deviate drastically from the mainstream narrative, we will never be told the real truth.

There are a lot of findings that change paradigms, of course they would need to be supported by solid evidence but it is hardly something that would happen for the first time.

Someone should have googled before sending a spaceship there. It's common knowledge the moon is made from a large impact to the earth which pushed material into space and eventually formed the moon.

With all respect whoever theorized on large impact on earth was spewing garbage. Like we have vegetable gardens so do they Almighty have a place where every planet was/ is designed and if I haven’t been there I would not dare say it with 100 percent confidence that most of these theories are garbage.
