I hope they get this under control. For the chickens there is no treatment for avian flu. Destroying the birds are the only option.

As the threats to livestock, esp chickens and pigs by infectious disease has become an almost annual event, perhaps it's also time to re-assess the whole concept of factory farming.

The idea of 1,000s of chickens etc crammed into confined unnatural spaces, creating incredibly unhealthy conditions for the ease of spread of deadly diseases.

And then there's the whole moral issue of doing such.

Don’t think the U.S. FDA allows it Dr.TOM1957 10:49am, but didn’t the Philippines once allow consumption of culled chicken meat & eggs ? :
