Quarantine it, identify it, identify if the life found on and in it are dangerous to native species and the eco-system, then deal with the remains of boat. All you can do, really.

What is unusual is that it has taken 5 years to wash ashore. There has been a lot of "stuff" wash up along the entire NW coastal areas of USA and Canada but most of it was in 2012/2013. NHK has several moving docks of people tracking down the owners of flotsam in Japan and returning it to them ......great stories and it allows people to connect across the oceans and for affected Japanese to get on with their lives once they have important personal possessions returned to them.

Moderator the article says in 2012, a massive, 20 metre long dock... Shouldn't it be in 2011? Could be wrong though. Cheers for continuing the free news service nevertheless.

If so, its amazing that it could have been floating around unnoticed for so many years. If your lost at sea, its certainly Gods miracle to be found.
