The body of a man has been found in a subway tunnel in Osaka, police said Wednesday.

According to police, the body was found just before noon on Tuesday. TV Asahi reported that the train driver applied the emergency brake after spotting a man collapsed on the tracks inside a tunnel on the Tanimachi line in Hirano Ward.

The man, who was in his 60s, was declared dead on arrival after being taken to the hospital. Police say that the man's body showed signs of having been hit by a train, and that security camera footage from the nearby Deto station platform showed a man walking along the edge of the platform not long before.
