That's why good parents always keep an eye on their kids, and give them STRICT instructions not to go out of sight or earshot, and ENFORCE these instructions.

When I became a father 7 years ago, stories like this suddenly grabbed my attention and stabbed at that core of my soul. My deepest sympathies go out to the parents. I would cease to function as a normal human being if something like this ever happened to my cherished child.

It probably was an accident(i hope) but how can a mother let the kid play near a pond, kids are impulsive!

So sad! Kids will be kids. Let's hope it is just a tragic accident and not the result of a sinister deed.

parents worst nightmare. Love what you got, you never know when it will be taken away.

Spidey, this is true but you can't watch them 100% of the time. Children can be very fast and these things can happen in a frighteningly short space of time....My sympathy to the parents.

Sad, sad tragedy. I give my kids extra hugs everytime I hear about one of these accidents .

Tragic. But more times than not...avoidable.

Be vigilant parents! Not complacent!
