If any Japanese is looking for someone to blame, it's Hirohito and the IJA. They started the war, they killed countless innocent people, they treated civilians and POWs with extreme brutality, and they refused to surrender. This is especially true of Nagasaki victims. After what happened to Hiroshima, the Japanese should had IMMEDIATELY surrendered.
Hirohito should have been tried as a Class A war criminal. Instead, he got to spend the rest of his life in comfort. The American had been too nice.

How about "Instigator and Victor" instead

Sorry Fujimori san but the BLAME lay in Tokyo! With the govt, IJA & the Emperor!! Hopefully you will eventually realize this, but then not likely............
Why on earth is it so hard for Japanese to analyze WWII & see what Japan DID & admit its history???

Dig a bit more so you'll realize Japan's World War II aggression started way before Pearl Harbor.

All these people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki pointing the finger at America for possessing nukes need to actually tell their own government to send them out of their own country. US bases across the country have nuclear weapons. To pretend otherwise is pure political posturing. Mr Abe will conveniently forget to mention this fact when he states "as the only nation to have been bombed by nuclear weapons Japan calls for the abolition of nuclear arms" . Obama should call his bluff, just for kicks and giggles.

Sometimes, I am exhausted by these ongoing politics.
In the truth of progression, if we set aside our emotion and all "what if" questions, we can see that our time should be focused on the issues that are more relevant to our current times.

Here's an interesting article on the events surrounding Hiroshima, and it's co-written by Oliver Stone. Yes, that Oliver Stone.

Conveniently forgotten as well is the horrific damage that occurred, mostly through the negligence of the Japanese themselves of the biggest nuclear disaster in history at Fukushima.
Getting rid of nuclear weapons is one thing, but here in Japan they have an even bigger nuclear mess waiting to happen with all those reactors sitting on fault lines.
Just who is being a hypocrite here?

@tahoochi Yes, that is a decent article that contains information which 'somehow' is always conveniently 'forgotten' - or actively side stepped (as in the point about how none of this is ever put into American school history books). Also, in addition to the 7 5-star officers who opposed it, George Marshall also should be included in the list. Probably the saddest thing in all of this is that the end the US effectively accepted the one 'condition' of allowing the emperor to stay that would have ended hostilities in May 1945.
On the 'Class A war criminal' subject - two that definitely should be included are Curtis LeMay and Arthur Harris. At least LeMay admitted as much.

Saying Japan started the war is a very simplistic view. Why did they suddenly attack Pearl Harbor? Dig a bit more so you can get past the standard story taught by the eventual victors.
