The drivers of two trucks were killed when their vehicles collided head-on in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, on Friday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 3 a.m. on National Route 4. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that one truck apparently veered over the center line into the path of the oncoming truck.
The two male drivers, one in his 50s and the other in his 60s, sustained heavy injuries. They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
