A 17-year-old boy was hit and killed by a train in an apparent suicide in Kitamoto, Saitama Prefecture, on Friday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:42 p.m. Fuji TV reported that the train driver told police he saw the boy standing on the tracks and applied the emergency brake but couldn't stop in time.
Police said the boy climbed over a one-meter fence to get onto the tracks.

Well no one knows why he killed himself from this article. Nothing mentions bullying, so anything at this point is pure speculation.
A 12 year old girl in the U.S. recently killed herself and live streamed it on Facebook.
Many young people these days around the world are killing themselves for any perceived slight or offense. Something is seriously out of whack in our world society.

I'm no headline writer, but whiie 17 is still not an adult in many countries, I think "17-year old killed by train in apparent suicide" would've been more accurate. A "boy" to me is much younger, 6~13 maybe.
His emotional pain seems to have been too much for him; too bad he couldn't get the help he needed.
