Two people were injured after a car plowed into a coffee shop in western Tokyo on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. near Seibuyagisawa Station on the Seibu Shinjuku line.
According to police, the driver of the car -- a woman in her 60s -- mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and crashed into the coffee shop, Fuji TV reported. A male customer in his 50s, as well as the driver, suffered injuries and were hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Disillusioned
I read the headline and said to myself, some old person has pushed the gas instead of the break. Low and behold, I was right. It's a bit of a no-brainier though cos it happens at least once a month.

Heard in other reports that the driver was an 80 yr old man. This is certainly not the first time we are hearing about these accidents of old aged drivers plowing into buildings, driving in the wrong direction on highways etc. With more people dying obviously the restrictions need to be tightened to ensure public safety.
