Hadn't realized the previous estimate was 70-80 percent.
Last big one in 1946 (Showa 21年) termed the Nankai earthquake registered 8.0M and resulted in a tsunami that hit the Pacific coast from Kyushu to the southern Boso Peninsula, reaching 6 meters. 1,330 people were killed, 12,000 houses were completely destroyed.
Frightening what a 9+M will cause. Get ready folks who live with me down here.

This is why I will never live in Shizuoka, Aichi and Mie. Good luck to those who do live there.

Remember there is a significant incentive for them to predict a high possibility of any large disaster - as the downside to not predicting it and it happening are huge, whereas predicting it and it not materialising is just "playing it safe"

Japanese scientists as well as the general population in these regions have been warning people about this for decades.
There will be a big earthquake in Japan. When? Impossible to know.
I feel like some of these scientists are just hedging their bets. So when it happens they can say I warned you.
