Thank you but…..No thank you!! I like to know that I will be able to return home from my vacation.

As long as it isn't reciprocal.

Any Japanese citizens travelling to China are reckless, anyway.

13 ( +26 / -13 )

I have been to China many times from Japan and have never had a problem. It has a long history and great food, so why wouldn’t people visit. I recommend it to people.

Come see the real China not the biased one presented by the BBC and NHK.

Good News for everyone.

Japan and China must do all they can to avoid frictions and confrontation.

Peace is Precious, the opposite is Hell

-7 ( +12 / -19 )

In my opinion anyone who judges Japan, China, or any other nation based on Propagandas and fake news is missing out a lot and is a prisoner in his own cage.

Neither Japan nor China are looking forward to their visits anyways.

Haters are welcomed only if come with an open mind, willing to leave their cages, learn , free themselves from the brain washers.

Those who wish to stay in their cages and carry on with their twisted minds will be left behind in the dark ages.

I’ve been to China many times. You’re not missing out on anything.

Come and enjoy great food in a relaxed atmosphere.

In Japan there are a lot of gestures and facial expressions of excuse me, sorry and bowing. There’s a love for apologizing for a minuscule slight or a tiny inconvenience to which the other person will frantically assure you it’s alright and that it’s no trouble at all.

China is way more relaxed and the locals sometimes look at the Japanese funny wondering what they’re uptight about with that constipated look on their faces while hissing and apologizing.

-20 ( +10 / -30 )

'Lord' Starmer at G20 got nowhere then? At this rate, the UK will be the only country on this planet without visa-free access.

China is way more relaxed

The YT videos sure show that the peopl on the streets are a lot friendlier and far less shy. The kids' level of English is a lot better nowaways, even in the remote areas.

Don't worry. They can spend their money somewhere else. They were the SINGLE highest spenders in Japan a few years back.

That's one of the reasons why they're letting so many people visit visa-free. So that people can see the country with their own eyes and not rely on the western state propaganda. And that's why USA has a travel warning for US visitors daring to think about going there - they don't want their own citizens to see the real China, but just keep them ignorant. Too late. You can see all videos on YT. The lack of crime compared to the west, homelessness, abject poverty. And the improving state of health care, infrastructure and technology. Women can feel safe walking out on the streets by themselves.

Interesting that China doesn't offer the same privilege to their 'good' friends in Africa!

21 ( +25 / -4 )

Hard pass on going to a Communist regime that suppresses its own citizens, not to mention foreign dignitaries. If they'll arrest even diplomats, why do you think they wouldn't arrest the everyday tourist on bogus charges?

I spent quite a bit of time in China and watch BBC and used to watch a bit of NHK. I used to speak Mandarin at a basic level but I haven’t used it for years.

What do you mean by the real China?

Some of the comments are amazing. I used to live/work in China. Amazing place & amazing food….beautiful wildlife & scenery. The locals were extremely kind, twice I was taken from a supermarket to someone’s home by someone I’d never met just because they wanted me to try their ‘home made cooking’….take people as you find them.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

That’s nice but, like many others, I have no wish to go there.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

On my first trip to China I started chatting with a middle age man in Hangzhou. He invited me over to his house for dinner. We picked up a live chicken and a watermelon on the way there. 30 minutes later his wife presented a tasty stir fried chicken dish to enjoy with a couple of cold beers. Chinese society is far from perfect but imagine this happening to you in Japan.

I’d agree on the food. I had some of the best food I’ve ever tasted in China. Not a great fan of the booze though.

LMAO, I wouldn’t go through there to change planes much less spend money as a Tourist.

You can’t be serious

China is a beautiful country with a great culture.

Don't go by the western china bad this and that.

Chinese food is fantastic and so many variations.

You'd love it.

What's missing is some signages which could be only in Mandrin, and foreigners may have difficulty.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

I don't plan on getting stabbed, or arrested after all the posts I made about the God King XiXiPee.

Besides, friendlier countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore also have Chinese diaspora with 100% authentic Chinese cuisine.

Thanks though.

@Jind Japanese can navigate, order food and other simple tasks because of 漢字.

I dunno. China has already proved it has potential as a tourist destination.

One of the oldest civilizations on the planet.

To be honest, I’d choose Thailand, Vietnam or Bali if I was a panning to visit Asia but each to their own.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

If you're a US citizen, expect to pay through the nose for a multiple entry visa.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I would pay zero attention to anything the BBC says about China, especially given the footage on Twitter of their current (clearly awful) correspondent being told to clear off at the site of that recent disaster with the guy mowing people down at the stadium. THe BBC jumped the shark years ago, probably before Brexit but definitely since. It's pretty much indistinguishable from the Daily Mail, the "newspaper" that told us about "good ol' Hitler" and is owned by offshore tax dodgers. The current BBC is just a government and establishment spokesman. The presenters might as well have cheerleading pompoms.

I'd love to go to China. Unfortunately most of our money and time goes on raising our kids, but that should only be for a few more years. I hope we can start travelling more again when its over.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Introducing visa-free entry to boost tourism and so the wider economy is a very good idea. I seem to remember Japan doing it.

As an American, I mostly rely on the locals of the country that I'm visiting rather than propoganda from the US. When I went there, I didn't have much problems, except for the dirty air in Beijing that caused some sharp back pains that I had. I was alright at department stores and outside of the city. The food was very good; especially the Peking Duck. That was soooo good and very affordable.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Excellent..

China is a great and diverse country that is worth visiting..

Many would be pleasantly surprised, especially the ignorant who hate China without knowing it and only know the anti-China propaganda garbage of the west..

If the China haters knew that the standard of living in China is much better than in the overrated US.. Surprise, surprise...

-5 ( +8 / -13 )

chico3:

except for the dirty air in Beijing that caused some sharp back pains that I had.

May I ask when you went there? The air quality has improved A LOT. The government knew how damaging it was and ensured that factories take the necessary precautions like filters, etc. The most polluted places are now mostly in India. Even the western mainstream media can't make up lies anymore about that, although just a few years back BBC was caught putting a gray filter on their photos of China, even making the green trees look gray. The BBC doesn't understand that WayBack Machine exists - it's no use quickly getting rid of a doctored photo. The evidence is still there.

So which G7 or EU country offers visa-free access to Africans? Rather, they're trying to get rid of them.

It's disheartening to see so many people actively oppose messages of peace, downvoting good-intent comments. Why are we so resistant to positivity and harmony?

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Any Japanese who goes to china should take full self responsibility if they get attacked by the nationalists there. The conditions in China is very hostile for Japanese to visit

3 ( +8 / -5 )

The Japanese and South Koreans desperately want to buy "Made in China" from China, nice !

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Good news, for all the modernization of the process it is still really complicated and if you have bad timing you have to apply together with thousands trying to go back for some holiday

Been to China many times. China has some amazing national parks and nature. However, I still am concerned with their COVID policies and lockdowns.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Does this policy also apply to American passport holders? I might be trying to go in the Summer

Wake up. It's nearly 2025, not mid-2020.

I know the western propaganda outlets like CNN and BBC made it seem as if China was in lockdown but that was NEVER the case. Only individual cities or regions were. Where the situation wasn't so bad, people were still free to go about their business.

More importantly, the Chinese people see nothing wrong with what the government is doing and actually support it. Nowadays, they will snitch on you if you say anything negative about their government. Tourists don't want to be jailed and interrogated for expressing their opinion. Never was like that when it was actually Hong Kong and not mainland China. Add the lingering effects of Covid originating from China and it's not surprising that people aren't going there.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

The food may taste great but there have been so many food safety scandals I wouldn't eat food made in China, unless I was starving

So only in major cities were people being welded into their apartments?

USA and UK passport holders will be the very last to be included in this program because of their aggressively anti-China rhetoric and policies.

Does this policy also apply to American passport holders? I might be trying to go in the Summer

Who'd willingly visit a totalitarian nation? No thanks.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Who is willing to tour a country with many cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles New York? The entire city is a crime site, many drug users especially taken fentanyl like zombies crooked in the street and the police done nothing to stop crimes and harassment from drug users. America is terriblely not suitable for a safe touring. Druglands, Gunlandsthat really scary. And when you goto shopping malls or Emporium, suddenly a large group of thugs stormed in looting and stealing things in front of your eyes.

The above shall never happening in China as we are a lawful and civilized country. I'm not saying China has absolutely no crimes.Yes we do have crimes but Chinese government and police and the people has done every possible thing to make the society safe. What did the American politicians has done for their own country's public safety? NOTHING !

And wait, Donald Trump is going to expulsion of multi millions illegal immigrants and will be backed by the US military, not a happy trip if you choose the 52 states to be your touring destination !

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@factchecker: Who'd willingly visit a totalitarian nation? No thanks.

And who is going to choose America as their touring destination ?

Downtown of San Francisco full of drugusers or junkies taking cocaine and fentanyl. It was horrible to see once the lovely friendly city self degrading like this, everywhere were piston and needles, scary enough !

China supplies the precursors for making the Fentanyl that kills Americans.

Make sense. China is a very friendly country and of course welcoming Japanese visitors. It was a myth that there existing the so called "Japanese haters". Utterly nonsense ! Even these hooligans attempts to make troubles, they will be stopped by police, this is a lawful country.

Fentanyl were made in Mexico, absolutely nothing to do with China.

I didn't say that Fentanyl is made in China. It has been long proven the chemicals needed for making Fentanyl are exported from China to Mexico and the Chinese authorities know about it.

I've been to China many times and have never run across any problems. I am an American, and in the past have held responsible positions in the US military and State Department. I went to China a few times as a diplomat and have gone back several times since. I am sure I was followed from time to time by Chinese state security, and know that my telephone calls were screened. Yet, I was never personally harassed and always felt safe. In my off-time, I wandered freely in areas that foreigners rarely ventured, rode local busses to the ends of the lines in non-descript rural areas, and just observed people and the countryside with no set agendas or destinations. Local markets were fascinating. People were friendly and talkative. The scenery was vivid. People who are afraid of going to China have no idea what they are missing. I, for one, would welcome easier access and would gladly go back to China again without a visa if it were an option. I haven't been to China for at least 12 years now. This winter I will be traveling to Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia for the first time, and I expect them to be as interesting as I found China.
