Japan needs to build something on the Senkakus. A lighthouse, a giftshop, McDonalds, anything.

Japan needs to build something on the Senkakus. A lighthouse, a giftshop, McDonalds, anything. just do the same as China does, build a airstrip with planes, missile battery, surface to air, air to air.

Seen evidendence that in history it was China's. I think it should be a world heritage, national park. Not exploited and used for politics, but for tourism.

For target practice? South Korea owns, administers, lives on, and has structures on Dokdo, but that hasn't stopped you from doing a 180 and saying it's "different" and "doesn't mean it's theirs", etc. Maybe Japan should take this to the ICJ, no? Oh wait... there 'is no dispute' in this case, right? Only with the other islands.

Anyway, Abe's going to go crying to the UN again, saying we have to isolate China -- then he'll turn around and demand they do more to stop NK. Then he'll tell the people at home this is why he's needed in the next election, and why the Constitution has to change.

Japan has no intention of militarizing the East China Sea, unlike China which broke it's promise of having no intention of militarizing the South China Sea within one year.

No such history exists. The only references are to visual sightings of islands which can not be confirmed as the Senkakus. The only evidence of any human habitation are the remains of a Japanese bonito processing factory there. Chinese (PRC) maps of the 1950s and 60s show the islands as being Japanese.

First let the international boy scout troops set up camp to settle things down a bit . Perhaps installing a non-sectarian shrine dedicated to all the victims of WW2. It could be island condominium administered by both China & Japan to further foster better understanding of shared mutual Asian values. No guns allowed but perhaps building a weather & earthquake warning station. I would never consider a McDonalds but how about a dim sum/sushi bar using the local catch to encourage dialog through hospitality
