What are China hoping to achieve from this? it will only serve to raise tensions in an already tense part of the world and turn public opinion against them. The only thing I can see that china can gain from this is to give the increasingly restless population a common enemy to preserve their corrupt and immoral government.
House Atreides
Public opinion is already against China. China's strategy is to wear out Japan and then seize the islands when the opportunity presents itself. The Chinese want the Senkaku islands not only for the natural resources but as a springboard for an eventual invasion of Okinawa. When the Chinese were demanding Damansky Island back in the 1960's, they were in fact plotting to seize the entire eastern half of Russia.
What made China back down?

@House Atredies: The fact is 'public opinion' of Chines epeople both domestic and overseas supports teh Chinese government and her actions! A justice not heralded in last 40 years
darknuts
Is this really even news at this point? They're copying and pasting the same article and picture every week.

China is doing the min necessary to strengthen her claims to the disputed islands. Endless reporting and Japanese attempt to warn off Chinese ships and small planes serves no useful purpose. Best to make this a non news event and ignore China unless there is a spike and more aggressive moves from China!

@Tony : Now the so called "Japanese administration of those islands" is a myth that has shattered !
SecularBeast
The CCP leadership are idiots if they think this kind of impotent military posturing will actually accomplish anything. They really need to come up with a 'Plan B' that doesn't involve behaving like knobs.

It's definitely not news outside of Japan! Actually only japanese "opinion is already against China", LOL~ whoelse care about it? The islets belong to Taiwan but Taiwan didn't mention much about it because Taiwan cherish practical relationship with Japan and China. I believe most people agree that friendly relationship is much much more important! One more suggestion for Japan is: why don't you reduce sending your CG ships to the disputed area so as to calm down tensions over there?
Surf O'Holic
I would recommend selling the islands to the US.

No doubt the good people of North Korea, Zimbabwe and Iran are resolute in their support for the communist chinese as well. Beyond that I think you got nothing ....
I sure hope there are no Chinese living (legally) in Japan who support the communists on this one. If they do they should scurry back to the mainland and stop taking advantage of Japanese hospitality.

@hidngout: Yes I know many Chinese living outside the PRC in overseas or Hong Kong were frustrated the CCP wrong doings but nobody will against Chinese government sending government ships or naval ships to diayoutai islands! Instead they might blashing the CCP not 'taking actions' against Japan for decades until now! The Japanese govt's nationalrizing those islands were totally 'pointless'! It just kicked up another wound older than the sino-Japanese war(Marco Polo bridge incident! There were three parts of sino-Japanese conflicts: 1. Sino(Manuchrian empire)-Japanese war in Korea and the yellow sea(1894) 2. Japanese army invaded manchria 1931 3. Sino-Japanese war, the marco polo incident 1937-1945! Please understand our frustrations and pains that has been erupted for 118 years!

China can deliver 'shock and awe' if needed. Do not underestimate China. Even US navy is sweating with the new DF21D being deployed near the Taiwan Straits and all Carrier Groups at at risk anywhere in the China Seas, including near Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.
If you ever wonder why Japan or US don't take on China 'aggressions', you can understand why from the article below. Respect China or face the consequence!

We're all terrified, Tony.

Not trying to overplay China's strength. Just warning US & Japan, the Hunter may just become Hunted, so don't play with fire!

Laughable. The communists are very good at beating up on their own defenseless citizens and small countries around them. But whenever a real opponent steps up to the plate they suddenly remember that they had something else to do. Your propaganda is getting really stale.

@HIDINGOUT: But whenever a real opponent steps up to the plate they suddenly remember that they had something else to do.
And when did that 'real opponent' ever steps up to help her allies at present that she needs China buying her debts? A paper tiger just know spelling empty words like 'pivotal' power...etc
