Heartbreaking, but what do they realistically expect to find? I wouldn't expect anything to be left of a body lost in the ocean after five years...

A line has to be drawn between the (understandable but not necessarily very rational) feelings of survivors and the reality of spending time, money and effort (better spent on improving life materially for the living) on a hunt for things with an infinitesimal chance of being found.

Chikara Yoshida, says,“But for me, as I approach the end of my life, I want to bring him back in any way I can,”“I would just say, ‘well done’ or maybe ‘come back.’ . But rather than come back, I would really just like to tell him, ‘Well done.’” what a kind man, Iam sure that you and your wife, will be reunited with your son one day.

Same goes for the MH370 search, I'm just sayin'.

Uh no. An aircraft lost for unknown reasons needs to be found so the cause of the loss can be properly investigated and determined in order to prevent the same or similar mishaps in the future. This directly prevents the loss of equipment and most importantly lives. In contrast, there is no practical value to searching for what's left (more like what's NOT left) of a body washed to sea five years ago. As harsh as it may sound, the significant amount of government funds spent on this fruitless search is simply not worth whatever emotional benefit it may bring a relatively small number of survivors/family members.

A simple acknowledgement of the beauty and honor of the searching and the heart shown by the coast Guard and other officials who DO see the important of any effort is all i can give. No need for negative comments here or elsewhere ...just support those who grieve in any way we an, there is no cost too high to give comfort to those who love and miss lost ones. In Japan and the way faith works this is a sacred duty.

As sad as it is, you are absolutely correct.

So how long do you feel they should keep at it?
