We have been covering it since early Tuesday.

TEPCO is yet to identify the cause of the blackout, but suspects a problem with a switchboard

This is actually quite scary. If they cannot find the problem how do they know it won't happen again tomorrow? So, these "uhum" professionals are in charge of cleaning up the world's second largest nuclear disaster, yet they cannot find the cause of a power outage that could quite possibly have lead to another meltdown? Bloody marvelous! I am so filled with confidence, NOT!

A rat was probably the culprit, NHK just reported. 15-centimeter rodent (20 cm if tail included, Tepco official pointed out) believed to have caused a short circuit, after its charred remains were spotted near the wiring.

Well, that's Tepco engineering at its finest: the nation's most critical facility brought down by one small furry animal. Fukushima's comedy of errors will never let us down.

Rat, cat, giraffe or elephant is besides the real point, what worries is that there was / is no backup system that automatically kicked / kicks in as soon as the 'primary' system goes down. Appalling lack AGAIN of forethought, preparation. That IS what caused these Level 7 Catastrophes in the first place!

I just saw that rodent tonight on the news, and I have to say, the first thing that flashed through my mind was Vyv's hamster 'SPG' after it had been in the toaster !

Japanese now have a cure for their shortness. You'll never know how much bigger Japanese will get in the near future. lol... OK, bad joke.

TEPCO has stressed that the glitch was fixed before any lasting damage was caused

yeah, how about all of the lasting damage to the environment and people you caused?

However, the charred remains of a rat were found near the switchboard.

Yaki niku!

The TEPCO diagram shows the reactor pressure vessel inside the containment vessel. We know that the fuel dropped out of the bottom of the pressure vessels. It also says that the molten fuel rods (corium) burned through a large proportion of the concrete encasements. Do they mean the concrete that is inside the containment vessel, (as shown in that diagram) or the concrete that is outside and below the containment vessel?

Media thank you for letting us know what TEPCO serves you. Where is the good old journalism, to get out from office and actually investigate on your own. Am I asking too much.
