A man and a woman were injured after their car went off the third level of a shopping mall car park in Itabashi, Tokyo, on Wednesday afternoon.

Let me guess, they mistook the gas pedal. Btw not very strong barriers.

@ Papi- Exactly what happened. If you saw the news coverage, it was quite obvious. Normal speed inside a parking garage is maybe 10km/h or so. Their car went right through the wall and landed a good ways from the building. So, its not like they poked through and slipped over the edge.

I agree. The barriers in the car park can't even hold back a relatively slow-moving car?! Major design failure!

And maybe in the wrong gear?

Who wants to bet it was a classic case of mistaking the brake for the accelerator?
