A couple in Choshi, Chiba Prefecture, sustained minor burns after a body cooling spray was ignited by a lighter in their car.
According to police, the couple were parked when the blast occurred in their car. just after noon on Wednesday. Fuji TV reported that the man had been using a fast-evaporating spray to keep cool and then attempted to light a cigarette, causing the airborne gas to ignite.
Police say the 40-year-old man and his 27-year-old girlfriend sustained minor burns to their faces and other exposed skin in the incident.
Police are urging users of cooling sprays to properly ventilate areas in which the sprays are used in order to prevent build-up of flammable gas following a series of similar incidents.

Another good reason to quit smoking,
Frungy
Doesn't he read the instructions on the can? All of them that I've seen have a warning to avoid open flames.

Really as if smokers would care. Show me one smoker that doesn't know that smoking kills and then you have a valid point. Having instructions on the obvious including picture/symbols for the clueless doesn't work when their "self preservation gene" doesn't exist.

Should have bought Magicool... totally non-flammable....

Um, they were in a car....AC?
I know they were parked, but trying to be ECO while smoking and spraying who knows what?

40 year old and 27 year old girl friend? Use your imagination.

Good reason not to use these toxic sprays and destroy the ozone layer. smoking without using this is perfectly harmless. Don't like smoking in the car though. 40 and 27 seems a perfectly ok age gap to me - nothing suspicious.

That's why he is walking with a limp.....

More proof that you cannot teach common sense to people

When I want to stay cool I get a drink, I don't smoke a cigarette which requires fire and heat to work, kind of defeats the purpose.

I think a few of you are missing the point... the "Cooling Spray" is flammable. Too much product liability. It reminds me of the Nintendo 3DS... they went ahead and marketed it despite many people becoming dizzy and getting headaches. It turned out to be a huge money loser for them.

So, I would much rather wet my shirts, freeze them for a while in the freezer before going off to work, rather than use some weird sprays etc...

What kind of Nimrod came up with this product? You could't give that to me for free, much less buy it!
