An old, almost blind deer has disappeared from Higashi Park Zoological Gardens in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture.
The doe "disappeared all of a sudden," a zookeeper said Monday, according to TV Asahi. The zookeeper said the 15-year-old deer was missing when he visited the enclosure at around 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Police were notified but have not yet determined if the animal escaped or was stolen.
A park official said he believes it is highly unlikely that an old deer could get over the 3-meter-high fence surrounding the enclosure. "I'm not angry as much as I feel pity for the person who stole our old and weak animal," he said.

How do you steal a deer? Maybe someone just opened the fence and let the animal go. Would that be easy?

Perhaps they stole him to put him out of his misery? 15 years in a Japanese zoo? Yikes!
Lowly
Maybe it was magic.
Is this news?

Q: What do you call a nearsighted female deer who falls in love with an elk?
A: DOH!
(get it? A doe... and doh!?... never mind)
Maybe we've had it wrong all along and the doe experienced Rapture. Here we thought WE were going to have Rapture and it turns out that the animals are getting it and WE'RE the ones left behind.
