The driver of a large truck was killed after his vehicle went off a bridge and plunged 40 meters into a ravine in Hakone-machi, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Monday.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 3 a.m. Monday. Fuji TV reported that the truck exploded as it hit the bottom of the ravine. It was carrying 80 drums of polytetramethylene ether glycol, an inflammable liquid.
Police said it appears the truck failed to take a curve and crashed through a guardrail.

What is also being reported in the news is that over 10,000 fish in the river/stream that the truck fell near have or will die as a result of the spilt chemicals.
