Japan can't even get the basics together...yet the Olympics MUST go on! Smh.

"It's not just a case of being able to switch a part on a machine, the production method (for the ice) is different," said the official, who asked not to be identified. "It would take several months to retool."

The Japanese pay multiple taxes but their money isn’t going to pay for efficient government-by the time (several months later) Japan has the first vaccination out there, other countries will be Covid free...

How does one apply for the position of 'expert' in Japan. I think I would be perfect, I can comfortably predict all these problems at least a year in advance of them being identified by the Japanese experts. I could also do some urging if needed and at a push some 'strong urging'.

This is the time for the, legendary?, Japan Inc to step up to the plate and give back to the people, on whose backs, their industries were made world famous!

It would appear the curtain has been pulled back and the ineptitude and pathetic version of governance is being reviled. But the time to change has been waisted years ago.

The only hurdle is the vaccine.

We get several daily articles on vaccines, but never anything about treatment. How are people with covid19 treated in Japan?

Japan has purchased enough Pfizer vaccines to inoculate 72 million people

it's a relief. I was in the misconception that Japan had not bought any vaccines yet.

According to Nikkei, AstraZeneca will license local firms to produce 90m units in Japan. The vaccine doesn't require very low temperature (survive at 2-6C). Hopefully it's become a silver lining.

AstraZeneca's tests in Japan will finish in May, may be approved in June. Supply chain will be arranged after that and we may have the vaccines in August - for essential workers and elderly. Meanwhile, in other countries the vaccination is finished.

"Though we're extremely hopeful about the vaccine, it is still difficult to forecast how widespread and effective vaccinations will be in time for the Olympics," he said.

Is he really asking this? The second scheduled approval, after Pfizer, is in May. You do the math...

According to Nikkei (Japanese) , the process of both production and regulatory approval will go simultaneously, get it done by May for rollout. Trial tests were already made last August. Homemade (licensed) vax and no requirement of special coolers will secure supply chains and quick delivery.

At that same time the government will receive the import of the remaining 30m jabs from AstraZeneca by March. So backups are made.

How about demanding that anyone who wonts to buy tickets or attend the games show proof of Vaccination first, then you will have a safe Olympics,

Why 自得体 isn't tasked to help? In most of the badly hit countries, even military helps. They have the resources, staff. Build shelters where a vaccination can take place, distribute what's needed. Central Nuclear Biological Chemical Weapon Defense Unit should be able to do it if no one else... But nah..!
