A man in his 80s was killed Saturday morning after the car he was driving was hit by a train in Chiba Prefecture.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on a crossing on the JR Uchibo Line about 150 meters from Onuki Station, Fuji TV reported. Police said a camera mounted on the front of the train showed the car stopped on the crossing after the gates had come down. The train driver applied the brake but couldn’t stop in time.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Nobody on the train was injured by the impact.
Train services were suspended for about four hours, JR East said.© Japan Today
