They always give these kinds of jobs to royalty that they want to get rid of to avoid confrontation.

Atsuko Ikeda lives just down the road from here. She will be glad to have someone take over, I can guess.

Pretty negative comments in here. She's still got a much more cush set up in life than any of us.

@Educator60

Your theory is not correct as Sayako Kuroda is not royalty.

Well the article said:

Sayako Kuroda, the daughter of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko

Where did she come from then? Did they find her floating in a river and decided to adopt her? Or, did you not read the article carefully enough?

Last I heard, if your mother and father are the Emperor and Empress then that makes you royalty by birth.

Silvafan.

She married a commoner in 2005 and thus is no longer royalty.

30s on google told me as much.

I understand how the rules work for the royal family in Japan. Just because she doesn't have the title, does not mean she is no longer royalty. She just has no claim to the thrown. Her parents are still the Emperor and Empress which means something.

Every year, I rent a place in Karuizawa where another member of the royal family owns a home. She also no longer has her royal title, but when she comes for vacation, she still arrives with an entourage of staff and personal security. For people who are no longer royal, they still seemed to be treated as such.

If Sayako joins her family for vacation, she should be guarded as well. Nothing wrong with that.
