I hope Empress Masako enjoys her stay away from Japan and gets some real relaxation in away from the Japanese Palace Walls.

I like the way Masako-sama's color sets the tone (リンクコーディング)

Japanese royal family fashion is dasai!

I always assumed Empress Masako was an Inner Swifty. Final Wembley concert tonight!

They will be accompanied by the Imperial Household Agency handlers, chamberlain, butlers, and ladies in waiting, orchestrating every move.

They offer their imperial highnesses a selection of appropriate clothing options to choose from. They have no freedom.

I saw video footage yesterday of The Mall in London decorated with alternating Union Jack and Hinomaru flags. Quite regal.

Nobody in the UK are paying any attention at all to this visit.

Yes they are. But election is overshadowing it. Been on news and newspapers though.

They've finally brought some summer to a miserable weather in England so far. Great weather for next few days.

Masako sama must like the English company, Wedgwood

Ahhh, wonderful............Taking a splendid trip, right when the (1) GBP is worth about double the (202) YEN.

Must be good to have such disposable income...............oh, wait

Japanese state visits are by the government and not the Imperial Household.

I wonder if the Emperor will partake in his favourite English food of Pie, mash, liquor and jellied eels this time?

Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, who are in the midst of a general election campaign before the vote on July 4, are both set to attend the state banquet at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening

Hope they’ve got a big screen up for England v Slovenia or they finished their tea early and get down the ale house to watch it.

Sunak and Starmer can’t be seen to miss an England footy match. Not good optics.

Japanese people love England. I still don't understand why....

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

because as japan began opening, they searched the world to learn how to thrive in it. england was the best example. a monarchy, an island, a global empire built on a strong navy to garner goods and raw materials. still why japan drives on the left.

so, japan said let’s copy that. a parliamentary government, build a navy, build an empire by colonization. didn’t work out very well. oh, japan could be colonized, but only the white folk can have a big navy and colonize.

Safe travels to their Imperial Highnesses. An emperor outranks a king, so Charles will be on his best behaviour.

I wish them a safe and good trip.
