He's tired of all the crap that goes being royal. He'd like to just leave his post and retire like a normal human being.

The Emperor is an oasis of sanity in this unnecessarily complicated, messy and drawn out abdication process. Just let him sign the document, no ceremony needed.

Aly has said it all...as usual ☺....just let him finally go on his own accord ffs.....its bad enough that the govt and the Imperial agency aparatchicks had to drag the whole thing out for like 2 years after he said he wanted to retire.

Spoken like a true and honest gentleman. The guest list will be manipulated anyway by LDP with Emperor having no say. He probably wants only close family and friends at his abdication ceremony.

I have a feeling that he would like a couple friends of the 'foreign persuasion' to attend. He just doesn't want to risk certain foreign dignitaries crashing the party.
