Emperor Akihito resumed his official duties on Tuesday after spending 18 days in hospital this month.
Akihito, 77, left the University of Tokyo Hospital last Thursday after being treated for a high fever and mild bronchial pneumonia. He had been admitted on Nov 6.
His eldest son, Crown Prince Naruhito, took over his official duties while he was ill.
On Tuesday, the emperor and Empress Michiko attended a service in Tokyo to honor fallen firefighters, including 226 who lost their lives in the March 11 disaster, the Imperial Household Agency said.© Japan Today
