May he rest in peace. And my condolences to his family as well!

", who openly admitted to an alcohol problem,"
Must be tough, being a prince.

So I did read the news (that flashed accros the TV screen) correctly... I and my son will miss you, we had such a great time ski-ing together all those years ago! I'll never forget the way you were always joking - over a glass of beer.
Rest in Peace "Higé no Denka"

Well, RIP. This guy has been on his way out for some time, and with the number of hospitalizations I'm not really that surprised. Good riddance to his stance on male only succession, but is a shame nonetheless.

While I may agree in principle to your comment, it would have, imo, been more appropriate when he was living. It's a shame that people talk bad about the dead, particularly about one who did so many other good deeds in his life.

RIP. Has anybody noticed? he died on 6/6 and he was 66.

Hermione- "whoa!" Spooky.

RIP
Highly agreed and respected. This is a golden rule to the dead.

Its a shame that people put respect for the dead ahead of far more important matters. The man is dead. He didn't hear.
If anyone wants praise when they die they have to earn it while living. About the only way I could respect his opinion of male only succession is if it was an intentional ploy to sink the monarchy.

Double sixes twice. 6 times 2 is 12. The year is 2012!

Oh God! Who let the numerologists out?!
RIP Prince, and all the OTHER 66 year-olds who died on this day.

So all his work with the handicapped doesn't count?

You mean like the succession policies of a figurehead monarchy? Yes, very important indeed...

I agree that no matter how correct you think you are, using a little restraint on the day someone dies out of respect — even if not for the victim –but for the surviving family who , regardless of what that person was, are actually grieving for the loss is the right thing to do.
Trashing the dead on the day of their death is not absolving them of any sins and really serves no meaningful purpose other than to go off decorum, politicize what should be a personal tragedy and overall lower standards of civility in addition to being extremely insensitive to loved ones in mourning,

I saw him at the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Motor Show last year and he looked in quite good health. It`s rather devastating to know that illness can so quickly take a person.

Spoke with him at a media function in '89 when I was assigned to Stars and Stripes. A very approachable person. I introduced myself and called him "Your Highness" and he responded in English, "Xxxxx, please call me Tomohito." Rest in Peace, Prince Tomohito. It was rally great meeting you.

You really don't know if he can or can not.
Besides that, as I read what you wrote here it sounds as if you are attempting to be apologetic for your rude comment and justify why you wrote it in the first place.
He was a charismatic and generous caring man who work with the handicap-able folks in Japan. That alone should cover him on his opinions regarding succession AT LEAST around the time of his death.

He was a unique person among the Royal family. He was outspoken and by that way we could touch his personalities. About other members, we don't know what kind person he or she is. I miss him.
