Surely evacuation warnings come before a typhoon pounds an area not after ?

The typhoon is still weakening, and from 9 a.m., it has been downgraded from a category strong and large typhoon to a tropical storm," he said.

Ok so since 9 am it has been downgraded to a tropical storm. That makes a lot of sense when I went out shopping earlier I was giggling as my wife was super nervous until we walked outside and it was Breezy with a bit of rain.

Why? It is a tropical storm not a hurricane

tamanegi

An elderly man climbed up onto the roof of his two storey home to secure his tv antenna during the high winds in Kansai this afternoon. He was getting blown around quite a bit but got back down okay.

Not the smartest move, but perhaps his TV programs are his only pleasure.

They can also spin 100 of tornadoes, without notice, since Japanese do not check for them,in a storm,do not mean they do not exist Google Hurricane Speed Plus Forward Motion Speed Tornadoes

Misleading picture. It shows Sogi Falls, which don't don't look all that different from this on a normal rainy day.

thanks for the heads up - agree, looks like half a bridge has been washed away! relatively mild here in fukuoka, compared to the one 2 weeks ago....

Intermittently clear skies, the occasional drop of rain, a gentle wind; and yet JR ceased services after 5:30. Go figure! Those jets presumably never got the message how dangerous it is. Supers and family restaurants too; either blithely carrying on trade in total disregard. Or, in their best imitation of a pandemic panic merchant, bolting the doors in haste and heading home to hide under the bed. It’s time like this we’re afforded a look behind the omotenashi curtain.

speed of movement is added to the speed of circulation a 45 miles wind plus a 30 Forward speed make a 75 mile gust

Doesn't work like that. What is moving is the low pressure area. Wind is produced by air moving from high pressure to that low pressure area.

Our US weather service give us updated and personal weather, not like Japanese, the info is forwarded to local news metrologist at news outlets and they will break into local programming the military is probably better than the JMA,they operate sesperate from the National Weather Service, they share resources

It’d be nice to see some regular updates on this site about what’s happening.

A tropical storm produce more rain,a tropical depression produce the most rain, this storm will last two more days

Always best to let them lay down during the storm and repair them later, rather than get blown off the roof

This is still dangerous, because the speed of movement is added to the speed of circulation a 45 miles wind plus a 30 Forward speed make a 75 mile gust
