WHY THE VACCINE DELAY?

1 - Primarily because Japan Inc seems to needlessly overcomplicate everything.

2 - Inflexible, inefficient, outdated systems and rules books.

3 - Too many business and group interests to maintain and palms to grease (supply chain and distribution).

4 - Stubborn old 'power hungry' men who hate anything related to modernization and change.

I'm not Japan bashing. I like many others who have lived here long enough know the above is 100% true.

Many EXCUSES, not reasons!

19 ( +22 / -3 )

Officials say there is a critical shortage of trained staff to give shots

Another article to hide the failure of the incompetent Jgov. If you had planned ahead, you would have identified this would be the case and get people trained up. Also, not throw out millions of vaccines because you didn’t know how to store them properly.

16 ( +19 / -3 )

Takeda Pharmaceutical Co will distribute the Moderna vaccine and produce the Novavax vaccine in Japan, and JCR Pharmaceuticals Co. will produce the AstraZeneca vaccine under a licensing deal.

Buried at the very end of the article is the true "reason". The government and business want their cut, and until they got these deals to produce and distribute the vaccine, there was no way in hell it would have ever been given the ok!

Everything else is just making excuses!

13 ( +15 / -2 )

“Officials say there is a critical shortage of trained staff to give shots.”

really.... they could post a YouTube video for Pete’s sake it’s an injection in the arm not a triple heart bypass!

Many reasons why Japan has been slow to roll out vaccinations

Despite Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s pledge to have all eligible people fully vaccinated by the end of September,

Just too many pledges over current pledges.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

Excellent article about the lame situation in Japan in respect with approval of drugs, vaccines, surgical techniques, etc. etc. It is important to clarify that in the case of HPV the vaccine ended up being cleared from the suspicions, but nevertheless Japan never corrected his stance and thousands of women have died and will continue to die because of this, COVID-19 is not the first time the retrograde attitude against vaccines have had a cost in Japanese lives.

Because rightly, neither the majority of the population or the regulatory bodies trust the American vaccines.

Not rightly, as explained in the article the reasons are not valid nor supported by the experts of the world, even Japanese experts say the situation is a mess that should have been corrected decades ago.

the US regime has forbidden Japan buy the best vaccine, Sputnik V or the second best vaccine, Sinopharm vaccine even though China is by far Japan's largest trading partner.

Imaginary reasons are not valid, the real reasons are that neither of those vaccines have applied for approval in Japan, likely because the requirement of having all the raw data to prove safety and efficacy would make evident the vaccines are not as good as they were presented as first.

11 ( +20 / -9 )

That sums up a lot of things many people feared. There is still a third-world country mentality in places where you need to be far above that, and it's the reason why Japan has seen such a mess in their vaccine rollout.

If the supply is more than enough to cover everybody, then start lowering the age limits to get as many adults vaccinated ASAP. That's how you move towards herd immunity.

Getting shots from pharmacists at drug stores as in the U.S. or from volunteers with no medical background other than brief training as in Britain remain unthinkable in Japan.

That's only because that government refuses to deal this crisis as they would do in the event of a natural disaster. And in the context of a natural disaster, you need as many people on deck to get things done. This is just silly decision-making when man shortage can easily be solved by training and mobilizing pharmacists, paramedics, veterinarians, police officers, and military personnel.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

""Japan’s mistrust of vaccines is decades old, partly because side effects have often been played up.""

Yes, for years and even now Japanese drug companies continue to PUT DOWN  foreign-made drugs in order to BOOST their own drug sales. This has always been the case and the Japanese public bought it of course.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Because culturally Japan is slow for everything new to be put in place.

Japan is efficient once things have clearly established and all the system masters the tasks

9 ( +10 / -1 )

This surprises none of us who have lived in Japan long term and this does not surprise many Japanese either.

Japan does have people who are capable of reacting and taking action. They are just not in the government. I work with great engineers and scientists here. One incident where Japanese responded very well to a crisis was at Fukushima Daini (not Daichi) where engineers and technicians went to the parking lot, got batteries, and repowered critical control systems. They also strung cable to get this done and "on the fly" designed and connected circuits to prevent core damage to the plant.

Unfortunately the government of Japan is not capable of such quick reaction. I always revert to Kobe in 1995 when JDF helicopters were flying over Nagata ku but could not act due to lack of permission from the central government or when the bureaucracy prevented very specialized search and rescue dogs from entering Japan at the newly opened Kansai Airport.

It seems the wrong people are in charge here and the Japanese citizens know this based on the most recent opinion polls.

Sputnik V or the second best vaccine, Sinopharm vaccine even though China is by far Japan's largest trading partner.

wrong Russian and Chinese vaccines dont have the effective rates as that of Pfizer and Moderna

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Because it's Japan. Period.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

It is interesting that no mention of the fact that Japan was a participant in the AZ trial phases back in 2020.

So this being Japan those trials had to have been done in Japanese hospitals by Japanese doctors.

So why the need for even more trials, seeing Japanese data was already available?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

More than 50 countries have authorized the use of Sputnik, so for Japan this is purely political matter

None of those countries have had access to the raw data necessary to corroborate the results that the Russians have reported, which would not be that bad if everything was done properly, unfortunately that is not the case, on top the huge unethical action of distributing the vaccine before having the clinical trials finished and examined it turns out the data is self contradictory and problematic, indicating that there are perfectly valid reasons not to use the vaccine without having first access to the raw data. If it was a purely political matter the data would be available for anybody to examine since months ago.

Pfizer does a trial on 2000 Asians but what matters is a subsequent trial on just 160 Japanese....

Sometimes you have remove these de facto trade barriers. For the good of the people.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Many EXCUSES, not reasons!

To Suga and company they are one and the same!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Because nobody wants to take responsibility and eventually bow on national TV while being bombarded with questions from the rabid J-media about the eventual vaccine side-effect and why this guy got his vaccine first before this guy etc..

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The solution is simple.

The diet can pass 2 temporary laws.

The first suspending the long review process for certain covid Vaccines ( a time limit can be placed to have the full archaic system to do it later).

Second a temporary law again authorising that non doctors and nurses can give the covid Vaccine after a short training (again this would be temporary and limited only to covid)

Then get the ball rolling and let the people decide if they are willing to be vaccinated!

Does take a genius to get that done, even Suga could figure out how to do that.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

One problem for domestic producers not mentioned in the article is the inability to procure enough single-use bioreactor bags. Predictably, there has been a rush on these to meet the ramped up production schedule necessary to provide enough vaccine. Apparently the Ministry of Health, late to the game, has been calling around to foreign suppliers (and most single-use components are made overseas) hoping to use their clout to help secure supplies, but they are all on backorder as is. So, thanks to this bottle neck in the supply chain, I wouldn't expect domestic production to begin in earnest for several months yet.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No. Only one reason. Incompetence. Except for vaccinating themselves

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Utter disgrace.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Why is there so much talk about the Russian and Chinese vaccines here? Are these people actually willing to get vaccinated with those or are they only trying to discredit western vaccines?

Yokohama City Hospital recently released data showing the Pfizer vaccine was 90% effective against against the new variants in Japan (Brazil, UK, SA, India). While the Seychelles is now experiencing an uptick in Covid cases even with those who have been vaccinated, mainly with Sinopharm.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Japan had a much lower death rate, so no reason to rush a skip over the regular approval process.

At least 90% of the daily deaths would be prevented by vaccination, that would be a reason enough, going back towards a more normal life (meaning a lot of of people would not have to lose their jobs, savings, dreams, etc.) is no small reason either. Irrational fears based on false information is a terribly poor reason not to solve this situation.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

What's with the propaganda for the Sputnik V vaccine? Russia has only fully vaccinated 6.2% of its population. Nor has its use been cleared by WHO and EMA.

Technical experts from the World Health Organization are due to start the next round of their review of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19 jointly with the European Medicines Agency on May 10, the WHO said on Thursday. Russia is seeking WHO emergency-use listing for the vaccine developed by Gamalaya Institute. So far COVID-19 vaccines made by Pfizer (PFE.N) AstraZeneca (AZN.L) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) have been listed - an endorsement of their safety and efficacy that helps guide countries' regulatory systems.

"Inspections for good manufacturing practices will take place from 10 May to 1st week of June," the WHO told Reuters in reply to a query.

The World Health Organization listed Sinopharm’s Beijing vaccine and reported an efficacy of 79%.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

In the 1990s, the government scrapped mandatory inoculations after a court ruling held it responsible for side effects linked to several vaccines.

Besides the court verdict, aggressive anti-vax campaigns had been made by liberal-prone media outlets, so people seem to have been biased and reluctant.

As for covid, vax hesitancy is virtually non-existent. Online and phone booking are always busy and overwhelmed. There have arisen many cases of "skipping into the queue". Large majority Japanese are more understanding of, agreeable, even urging for speedy operations.

It's wrong and highly irresponsible when the state officials lament a slow rollout by blaming the public ignorance or reluctance. Stop fooling, and move your butt first!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

There's only one reason: LDP

Vote them out!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Lack of effective leadership has resulted in a lack of the effective vaccines being in the arms of people who want it. Period.

By the way, I read on this website that black market are available on the black market for about 150,000 yen. For less than that one could fly round trip to Guam and get a shot. In America shots are available to everyone of age, citizen or not. Just walk into a drug store and ask for a shot.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

All that I am reading are excuses more excuses and some more excuses and it all boils down to incompetence at the highest level, unable to protect their citizens at the time of crisis. What is this government that forces us to pay taxes for??? What good is it??? And on top of all this, they are announcing that 3 more prefectures are added to the state of emergency and at the same time promoting Go To Eat campaign and pushing the Olympics. I find the whole thing mindbogglingly dangerous!!!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

[The Japanese Way of Things?]

...and yet people are dying everyday. Good job Japan. Your excuses do not make any sense at all.

So, it this the Japanese way?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

As I said before, time to give Uncle Sam a call.

u s military could come in and get it done before the Olympics. Sad today but Japan just doesn’t have the ability to think big on something like this.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Reckless

Now that you remind me of the geriatric part, it's more than time for Japan to have a mandatory retirement age for public service.

In any cases, those people are the deplorables dragging the country down with them. As a wise man, who is no longer with us, once said: IT'S TIME TO GO!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

No vaccine = No Olympics. Duh!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

In dealing with an emergency, of this nature, Japan has proved itself a failure.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

They are making their own so called perfect Japanese vaccines. But Government isn't happy about their medical team because they're taking long. Still hoping their 'Made in Japan' pride.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

So it’s clear from the article that foreign vaccines face import barriers to try to give the local makers some cover.

The consumer loses their free choice, and loses as a result.

Only doctors and nurses are allowed to give them in Japan's conservative medical culture.

and who makes those rules?

The source of the problem again, is, you guessed it, the big G

1 ( +1 / -0 )

...give the job to someone like Mikitani of Rakuten and he would get it done just as quickly.

I might just go for that, depending on how many reward points I would get on my R Point account.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The large, temporary vaccination center built outside my local station was in operation from 9:30 to 2:30. I asked the staff outside why they closed so early..... the answer.."lack of staff"

When will I (mid 40's) be getting the needle?... Lots of air sucking between teeth.... Maybe by the end of the year..

Not impressed!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

True to form again, Japan again cannot handle crisis management: Kobe in 1995, Tohoku in 2011 now this.

A crisis requires lateral thinking from the Prime Minister on down to us. Intelligent lateral thinking (not the Go To nonsense) is not what we are seeing. It might be the death my family, me and my friends.

Note how the article blames the ordinary Japanese person:

"People in Japan are often skeptical about foreign-made drugs, especially vaccines, and officials say they needed to thoroughly address safety concerns."

There is no evidence provided. None.

The fault is with Suga, the obtuse LDP, Japan's straitjacket bureaucracy and the capitalist system.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Japan has changed in the past 40 years. Politicians used to respond more to the population for fear of losing support and elections from their constituency.

Japanese would rise up in demonstration against government actions that were against the best interest of society. The legal system supported the citizens more.

Now, government is more by decree and Japanese have become complacent and silent. They have been socially engineered over more than a generation to be weak. It has been a purposeful campaign since the demonstrations of the 1960's and citizen anger at the Minamata coverup.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Most carried out their own trials before approving it. All have recorded the results of it and the only complaints have been over the lack of vaccine availability.

Again, those are imaginary reasons not supported by any evidence, you know all human trials have to be pre-registered before even beginning and they take at least half a year right? so either you can provide a source with all those clinical trials registrations and their time schedules or again you are just repeating information easy to debunk.

Of course notably Hungary which is the only country to have used 100k of all the four main vaccines said and provided the data to show Sputnik V was the best by far

Hungary has not provided any data, they just contradicted the evidence from the world without showing any data for it, which scientifically amounts to nothing, even less than hearsay.

But it's as you previously explained, the microbiologists in 50+ countries and the publishers of Western peer reviewed scientific journals don't know science, only you do.

And again, if you cannot discuss the actual points being made and have to discuss imaginary ones that only you have said maybe it is because you cannot do anything about the real points?

Reference what those microbiologists (that are ill prepared to examine vaccine efficacy and safety) have said about the problems detected in the trials? how do they explain the impossible heterogenicity? the patients appearing and disappearing? the unethical modification of protocols on the fly?

And once again, it is not me who said the trials have problems but world class experts, and using perfectly valid scientific arguments that you have never even tried to discuss, much less prove false.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

As far as the vaccines exist thus far, I'd take the Sputnik vaccine without any qualms at all. I want to take it. I'd also take the Sinopharm becuase even though it's not much more effective than the American-German vaccines, unlike them it's perfectly safe. No way at all I'll take the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Because they refuse to release the real data on efficacy

You got the vaccines mixed, the ones that did not release the full data are the Chinese and Russians, while the mRNA vaccines have made it available for any professional to check.

This may be because the unreleased data has apparently a lot of problems, so for those vaccines being suspicious is still better than being confirmed as worse.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Cut the red tape, make a quality YouTube video on how to give the injection and phone number to call if anyone suffer from anaphylactic shock and how to help them at first. Then send the vaccines out via post like they did with the Abe g strings last year, job done!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry this is rubbish, many people do want the vaccines and do trust the Pfizer vaccine. But the government is just very unprepared on the roll out. There are too many made up excuses. Dentist have offered to help but it is not accepted. Adding the injection is very simple. Training a person takes less than an hour. So use the army, first aid volunteers, hospitals, doctors, dentist.

Japan is excellent in their logistic services, look at the delivery chains. They can support as well. But communication and cooperation seems almost impossible. Too much talk and finding reasons not to do it instead of just doing it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Many US Food and Drug Administration employees have refused the vaccine. That should give many pause.

In the US scientific literacy is not a given, a country where a third of the antibiotic prescriptions are given for viral diseases is not exactly an example of a generally high level of understanding of medical therapies. Maybe "many" FDA employees have also taken antibiotics to "cure" their colds.

The important part is that this contradicts nothing of the validated scientific data that proves vaccines are safe and effective and protect people from complications and death.

For statements confidential claiming that no genetic meddling is implicated by these medicines, one has to wonder about mission statements of altering programs in the “Software of Life” by a company leading the charge in Covid medicines.

This worry depends completely on ignoring the technology and pretending some imaginary dangers are possible, that mRNA vaccines have no possibility of genetic modification is not something that one company is saying, but the consensus of science. Only people that don't understand the differences in nucleic acids can possibly think this is even possible.

So going slow with roll out under an exaggerated crisis may have some merit. And allowing an individual to make their own decisions regarding the medicine they take is definitely a valued individual right.

And in no way people are not allowed to make their own decisions. At this point the pandemic requires people to keep strict social distancing measures to avoid spreading. Vaccination offers a replacement of many of those measures, so people are still able to choose what of these two options they prefer, either keep the social distancing or vaccinate.

This is a typical "infomercial" statement that the pro-vaccine community pushes in order to expedite processes that require very cautious considerations. Big Pharma provides the financial backing for many of the "science" journals that spout this type of narrative.

False, this is a perfectly valid reason to expedite the approval, people die less with vaccines than without them so it is justified to have them used as soon as possible.

Your "financial" argument against the published science is on the other hand completely invalid, what journal are bought according to you? what are the proofs of this? how about research published in other journals? what part of the actual data do you think is false or manipulated? It is not enough to point out COIs (specially if they are imaginary) but it is also necessary to point out the problems with the scientific conclusions that you think are influenced by those COIs.

But not all. Here are examples of other facts and jurisdictions that conflict with the "essential vaccine solution" narrative.

Those "facts" completely fail to explain the situation observed un Brazil or India for example.

the fact remains that months after Texas and Florida and Georgia have either abolished or greatly scaled back all social-distancing and mask mandates, cases and deaths are generally declining

You, the same as many others, is making a false equivalency, lack of mandates it is not the same as lack of use, Japan has no mask mandates, this helps nothing in "proving" that masks don't work, because even without a mandate everybody still uses the masks and therefore their role in prevention is not negated in any way. If people have learned that social distancing measures are justified and help protecting people that is a good thing, it means mandates (not the measures) are no longer necessary.

@stickman1760

I know Americans think they are great and can do better than the rest but as long as the laws regarding who can legally give a vaccine and slow approval system l.

Your USA military will not have any better luck.

Change the laws on the two above problems and give the job to someone like Mikitani of Rakuten and he would get it done just as quickly.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@virusrexToday 08:40 am JST

huge unethical action of distributing the vaccine before having the clinical trials finished

Unethical or necessary, considering the rather large caseload of COVID-19 in Russia. Is it not arguable that once Phase 1 and 2 have proven that at least this thing isn't a poison you should brave the risk of relatively minor side effects and start actually vaccinating people?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Many US Food and Drug Administration employees have refused the vaccine. That should give many pause.

Japan has handled COVID well. There is no reason to rush the vaccine, even with the Olympics.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Japan is definitely going slow with roll out as industrialized nations go.

But that may be partially justified . There is a lot of stake. Warp-Speed experimental vaccines have been introduced and pushed by industry shills, as the remedy for this overblown Covid crisis. Putting aside the controversy of how this virus originated, it’s interesting to examine the perspective of some of the major Big Pharma players.

As an example, Moderna keeps pitching their “Software of Life” theme towards mRNA medicines. You don’t have read the blog nonsense posted by “sidewalk experts” . Read the company website itself:

https://www.modernatx.com/mrna-technology/mrna-platform-enabling-drug-discovery-development

For statements confidential claiming that no genetic meddling is implicated by these medicines, one has to wonder about mission statements of altering programs in the “Software of Life” by a company leading the charge in Covid medicines.

There are other interesting statements made in the Moderna website. Statements that almost lean towards a medical science that considers a human being as a complex software program.

So going slow with roll out under an exaggerated crisis may have some merit. And allowing an individual to make their own decisions regarding the medicine they take is definitely a valued individual right.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Chill out man, the most recent comment from a person named Paul was spot on. If you are not here in Japan you don’t really know what the situation here is. Also, if someone doesn’t want the vaccine that’s their decision.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

At least 90% of the daily deaths would be prevented by vaccination, that would be a reason enough, going back towards a more normal life (meaning a lot of of people would not have to lose their jobs, savings, dreams, etc.) is no small reason either. Irrational fears based on false information is a terribly poor reason not to solve this situation.

This is a typical "infomercial" statement that the pro-vaccine community pushes in order to expedite processes that require very cautious considerations. Big Pharma provides the financial backing for many of the "science" journals that spout this type of narrative.

Going slow in implementing a medical solution that resolves a questionable crisis is prudent. And Japanese officials that are repeatedly accused of neglecting their responsibilities are not alone . That's because because they reamin obstacles in the eyes of some. But not all. Here are examples of other facts and jurisdictions that conflict with the "essential vaccine solution" narrative.

https://mises.org/wire/covid-deaths-plummet-excess-mortality-falls-pre-covid-levels

" It's likely these facts won’t stop “public health” bureaucrats from continuing to insist that another “wave” of covid deaths and cases is right around the corner. These activists have many strategies for pushing vaccine passports, mask mandates, and even continual precautionary business closures. They’ll tell us that new covid variants are sweeping the globe. This is what they were saying in January, for instance, when Vox was telling us it was too dangerous to even visit the grocery store. At least one expert in late January warned us that the coming weeks would be “the darkest weeks of the pandemic.

It’s now clear such predictions were spectacularly wrong. By late January, totals deaths were already in precipitous decline.

But what about the lag in data? We're only looking at data up to mid-March because it tends to take several weeks for estimates of total deaths to become reasonably reliable. Yes, that data shows a big drop off. But what about the numbers for April and May? Should we expect those death totals to surge again with a promised “fourth wave” of new covid death?

If we consider the more recent case and death totals attributed to covid, we see few signs of a new surge.

Although Anthony Fauci and other government employed technocrats have been unable to provide any explanation at all for it, the fact remains that months after Texas and Florida and Georgia have either abolished or greatly scaled back all social-distancing and mask mandates, cases and deaths are generally declining, and total deaths per million (attributed to covid) remain below what we've seen in states with severe lockdowns. "

So, Japan should go slow. And beware of "selective science" narratives from foreign sources. As for Big Pharma and ideologies addressing recoding "The Software of Life" : Show me the incentive, and I'll show you the outcome.

Be cautious and informed.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Japan had a much lower death rate, so no reason to rush a skip over the regular approval process.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

@Thomas Goodtime

It would be nigh on impossible for the government to hide fatalities as each death is recorded. A spike in deaths would be noticed especially for the non seniors. This has not occurred, last year deaths reduced. It’s possible the government here are being cautious regarding the vaccine side effects as they can see Covid is less deadly than claimed by many in the West

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

likely because the requirement of having all the raw data to prove safety and efficacy would make evident the vaccines are not as good as they were presented as first.

More than 50 countries have authorized the use of Sputnik, so for Japan this is purely political matter

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

Pfizer does a trial on 2000 Asians but what matters is a subsequent trial on just 160 Japanese....

Pfizer, based in North America and BionTech, based in the EU Reich didn't want any significant number of tests done outside of those two locations due to fears the true efficacy of that vaccine would become known before making deals to sell **** (a large number).

The Japanese government knows it by now but Japan is an occupied country with limited power to make its own decisions and I suspect a number of the regulators/bureaucrats have investments in Wall Street, maybe in Big Pharma specifically.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Why is there so much talk about the Russian and Chinese vaccines here? Are these people actually willing to get vaccinated with those or are they only trying to discredit western vaccines

I'm in Japan and from a northern EU country. Because they refuse to release the real data on efficacy. Even the (almost certainly false) data they do release suggests one my age and in my physical condition is better taking one's chances with the virus than with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

And no one has any clue about any possible long-term side effects for these two experimental vaccines. If they gave me X-ray vision, I'd consider taking them but if not, I'll wait at least a few years.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

wrong Russian and Chinese vaccines dont have the effective rates as that of Pfizer and Moderna

Really? Well that's your little secret. What is the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine? After the Hungarian government reported and released the data that it was the worst of the 4 (Sputnik, Sinopharm, Moderna, Pfizer), the Pfizer CEO said efficacy was "about" 90%. Down from what the peer reviewed scientific journals, the same ones which reported Oxycontin wasn't addictive, reported as an empirical 95%. But no word at all on when Pfizer is going to release the revised data. Moderna did it smarter and just kept their grubby little mouths shut.

Too bad the Yankees baseball took the Pfizer vaccine rather than Sputnik or Sinopharm. Around a third of them wouldn't have caught the disease regardless.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Pfizer's international tests were conducted from July to November on about 44,000 people in six countries, including about 2,000 Asians. Japan requested tests on 160 Japanese people, triggering criticism that testing such a small number added little but delay.

Funny that Pfizer did not run studies in Japan. It is important because the average person in the west is about 2x as large as a Japanese. So this weight difference may affect doses.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

It is important because the average person in the west is about 2x as large as a Japanese.

Not even close to "2x". In countries with an epidemic of obesity, such as USA and UK, it's probably around 20~30% heavier on average. In places like Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, it's probably 7~12% heavier.

The reason for limited trails of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine outside of Anglo-American or German countries is because they wanted to ensure the truth about the efficacy didn't come out until ####### doses had already been sold.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

None of those countries have had access to the raw data necessary to corroborate the results that the Russians have reported

Most carried out their own trials before approving it. All have recorded the results of it and the only complaints have been over the lack of vaccine availability. Of course notably Hungary which is the only country to have used 100k of all the four main vaccines said and provided the data to show Sputnik V was the best by far. Sinopharm was only a little more effective than Moderna but safer, cheaper, easier to deploy. Beleaguered Pfizer brought up the rear. In response the CEO said the efficacy has gone from an empirical 95% to "about" 90% but no word on when Pfizer is going to provide the updated data.

But it's as you previously explained, the microbiologists in 50+ countries and the publishers of Western peer reviewed scientific journals don't know science, only you do.

How much money are you into Big Pharma for? I find it hilarious. Not only does Wall Street have zero influence on Russian and Chinese vaccines but they are directly taking massive profits away from Wall Street.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Because it's Japan. Period.

yup...

Japan 10,000 covid deaths

US 900,000 covid deaths.

Because it's Japan. Period.

and thank god.
