An express train service from Narita International Airport to Kawaguchiko Station in Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji began on Saturday.
The new service was launched jointly by JR East and Fuji Kyuko to make it easier for foreign tourists to visit Mount Fuji without having to go to Tokyo first, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The trip takes 3 1/2 hours and costs 7,040 yen one way. The round-trip service will be operated once a day on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays until Sept 28.

@Kimokekahuna, In summer, Fuji mountain is as crowded as Shinjuku. Day and night. One more train isn't going to make things any different.

Will it run on a different line than the Chuo Line? It could disrupt their schedule if the like the average bloke, they have to endure hours and hours of disrupted travel due the not-so-infrequent "jinshinjikos". But, maybe it will be a different track or zip by really fast and they won't notice. 14,080 yen round trip for 7 hours on a train to see Mt. Fuji and buy manju. Yep, could happen!
