Whatever will we do tonight whilst there is no emperor?!

The picture of the expressway collapsing will forever be in my mind, just as the one of the boy with his arms spread for the checkup after evacuating Fukushima. Heisei was full of many events.

Personally speaking it started with a bang, and has ended rather peacefully for me and my family. I must say we as a family are better off now than at the middle of the Heisei era, but not as well off as we were at the beginning of it.

@Yubaru

The most important thing is you are with your family. Many are not as luck as you.

At the begining of the Heisei era Japan was so dynamic, powerful and seemed destined to become the biggest economy in the world. At the end of the same period Japan feels, jaded, worn out, lost and its people seem to have given up on most of their dreams.

Just an observation from someone who experienced both ends of it.The contrast is quite startling.

Best time for Japan, a mission accomplished.

Everything mentioned is bad. That includes the Pokémon and Dragon Ball revolution. Was there anything good in the Heisei era?

Do the hustle:

Everything mentioned is bad. That includes the Pokémon and Dragon Ball revolution. Was there anything good in the Heisei era?

17 Nobel prize winners from Japan, that comes to my mind.

Great answer about the 17 Nobel Prize Winners!

Past is now history and memories. And for the present and future,

Ok, Let's control the population first.

Japanese companies! Back to the real game! Japanese devotion!

Japan, which had been the world's second-largest economy after the United States, was overtaken by China in 2010.

Japan did very well in the Heisei era in my opinion despite all the key events listed in the article. Maintaining number 2 and 3 in GDP is an accomplishment in itself as China has the population, and GDP per capital is inching towards $50,000. All this despite the two major earthquakes and disasters.

Most importantly, peace was kept with the Russians, North Koreans, South Koreans, China, and Taiwan amidst all the territorial island disputes.

Looking forward to technology, growth, and diplomacy in Reiwa Japan.

can't help but to laugh, they were selling t-shirts that said heisei on the front and reiwa on the back for 2300 yen. I could print those for less than 300. in 5 years nobody will wear them anyway.

sell to sheep rake in profit

I wish I could be a bit optimistic but I am afraid things are only getting worse as regards the livelihood

of families in this country, for a country with the 3rd largest economy, the standard of living of most families is not getting any better and won't get better as their purchasing power is eroded from the burden of bringing up children and the lack of support from a government whose policies are geared towards companies reaping benefits rather than the prosperity of the populace.

There may be fewer natural disasters in the Reiwa Era but still expect rougher times ahead.

Yeah, yeah, sure, it's only going DOWN in Japan,....that's why EVERYONE is CRYING to get IN.
