@noriahojanen Such a negative attitude. Is it so hard to imagine that there are many young, inquisitive Chinese who want to know more about the wider world and put in the effort to learn a difficult language and work towards the benefit of two neighboring countries?

@noriahojanen, include WWII and yes their true color would show up.

Of course. Most likely when Chinese students go abroad they realize and learn greatly from those counties.

Forget it. Those who come from this JET may be well be spies from this point on . This is how the United Front of the CCP functions - turning everything good into a tool.

That 90% of these applicants are selected by the local government offices makes it ripe for a propaganda network just like the Chinese government funded "Confucius Centers" for the purpose of spreading CCP disinformation under the guise of teaching Chinese culture have spread across US universities.

Not to mention the Chinese police departments set up around the world in restaurants and apartments to kidnap any Chinese citizen, take them to the Embassy, and ship them back to China against their will when they do not do what is told.

About 90 percent of Chinese JETs are recruited through recommendations from their workplace -- usually, Chinese local governments

They are moles and sleepers. Just screen them with critical questions inquiring about their views on Uygur or free speech.

It would be interesting and hasten their integration if Western JETS were also required to have similar abilities.

They are in a different role. If they are working in a Co-ordinator for International Relations (CIR) role then all JET participants must have have passed N2, regardless of nationality.

Assistant Language Teachers have no Japanese language requirement, as their role is almost always to assist with English language instruction, who requires a Degree in any subject which was taught in English. The assumption being if you can pass a degree taught in English, your language ability should be good enough to teach Elementary - SHS students.

To work as a coordinator, Chinese JET applicants must have a Japanese proficiency equivalent of "N1," the highest level under the five-category Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. Hence, many major in the Japanese language at university.

‘discriminatory’ because they might deem Chinese people as ‘rude’….that made me laugh. Having lived in China for 2 years it’s not discriminatory to describe them as rude, it’s accurate. Very friendly and very kind but also rude….taking a dump in the apartment elevator is rude, opening a door that says ‘staff only’ so your kid can take a dump in the ‘staff only’ corridor is rude, all happened on a daily basis.
