Too bad, lost all mine at age 36, brown with some salt and pepper, soft as hell, but could not keep it.

medical wigs, who wants someone else hair on his or her head when you are just as beautiful without any !?

Both of my daughters have done this, and several of their friends. I'd never heard of it before.

I hope it is truely donated because in many countries this is a commercial business

I'd propose most people would - in particular children and women who lose their hair due to illness.

When a hair donation goes wrong:

My mum has cancer and wearing a wig boosted her self confidence. Please donate.

No hair days. Good on them.

Well done. Good to see the Japanese people helping each other.

Sorry my hair is for sale only. Once it reaches 1 meter I will place it on ebay. (current length is approximately 3cm) so may take some time before it is listed.

It would be nice to know who received the wig made out of my hair," said Kiko Yamada, a 20-year-old university student in Aichi Prefecture who recently donated around 60 centimeters of hair.

I am quite sure you would not appreciate having your privacy invaded either. Particularly here in Japan, where there are still far too many stigmas related to illnesses.

Hair donation, which began in the United States in the 1990s

Incorrect. Hair donation specifically for cancer survivors might have begun in the US in the 1990s.

But Hindus in India have been donating hair at the Tirupati Balaji temple for centuries for religious reasons. The donated hair is reprocessed, packaged and auctioned off in international markets which has turned India into a top human hair exporting country.

So the Japanese should step up their hair donations for their hairless compatriots unless they prefer importing wigs made out of Indian hair.

I think there should be a data base, IF a girl, lady, or a man wishes to donate there hair, that is a fantastic gesture, if they want to leave his or her name with that batch of hair it can go on a register, and the recipient might want to write a thank you letter, I am sure that one or both parties might find some sort of solice in this, but if they just want to donate there hair, that is the donators wish's and no name will be added to the database, and the note should be "anonymous"

People donate kidneys, hearts, lungs etc, why not hair? for me, donating my late wife's cornea's gave me a boost, knowing that I can help someone see again.
