In the US if the father is found out the mother can force child support. No wonder no one wants to donate.

With all the "solo" devices that can be found in the adult stores, its something that I didn't think would ever happen.

yep and if the father donated in his younger years and grows wealthy in his older years then has kids he never knew knock on his door asking for their share of the inheritance, thanks but no thanks

If the law protects the donor, I can be first in line.

Looks like they need foreign sperms too.

A.M.: It's anonymous but they don't take foreigners

This world is getting so seriously MUCKED up, like men need MORE reasons to opt out, damn I hope it gets better for men its been getting bad for decades non stop.
If I was a young man these days I would seriously consider getting snipped to avoid any future repercussions, so many ways for the courts etc too ruin your life!
I am all about being responsible, but it is getting rather nuts these days, pardon the expression!

What if one or both our the couple are non-Asian?

Ah_so: "What if one or both our the couple are non-Asian?"
The couple seeking fertility can be whatever make-up the world lets them be, but the donors are not accepted if they are not Japanese, same as with blood donors, and even if desperate. Better to close down and die out... literally. Fortunately, those who seriously want can ask a foreigner or otherwise to donate directly and without the red tape. That's just a dig at people who get offended by the idea of foreign "donations".

Actually the sole USA case where the father was forced to pay child support was one where they met via Craigslist, and where the artificial insemination procedure was done at home. AFAIK, no "official" donor (going through a fertility clinic) was ever forced to pay child support. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen. So no, men actually should be very aware of this possibility, especially in this litigious climate. If your actions led to conceiving a child, you might be held responsible for this child's life, regardless of what contracts you signed before:

By this logic, would a kidney donor be liable to pay the recipient?
ebisen
JonathanJo, do you know how children are concieved? Not through kidneys, last time I checked. :) .

This is incorrect.
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A Topeka man who answered a Craigslist ad to donate sperm so two women could have a baby together is not legally the child's father and isn't required to provide financial support, a Kansas judge has ruled

Chip Star, thank you for the updated news. I stand corrected.
BTW, in Europe (Germany), it is the fundamental right of a child to know the father, so there are no "anonymous sperm donations".

That's interesting. I can see the policy behind it, but also how it may he detrimental regarding helping those who are infertile.
