This trading in an endangered species should end. Shameful it's not an issue in the media here.

From my experience in my youth I found a job at the fishery industry office to administrate some Japanese fishing boats/ships going abroad far aside waters and I was on board of a larger-long line fishing boat. I stayed months on board to finally port when the're tons of caught fish, Just to say the high prices for tuna was a good market at that time. I saw how the crew were doing with the tunas and sudden frozen to be managed by chief-engineer. It was minus 60 degree Celsius to conserve the whole trip to be transferred to a cargo ship to Japan(from another side of this planet). The fish stayed in the same conditions for months to arrive Japanese to be sold(auction) in fishing market (as Tsukiji is). It means that the frozen fish were preserved frozen the whole time, and next going to the retailers or restaurants. The heat wave isn't really the problem, it is pertinent how much their stock rooms are old or the market owners don't want to spend money in maintenance costs. That's what I think...

...to arrive Japanese land.

This whole thing has been as usual dodgey from the start, the current market is delapedated ( have not used that word in a while) the new market built on poised land. Thank you Ishihara, also at a huge discount thank you tax payers for propping up a industry. At least it's not as school or a vetenary university. Tax payers have been paying for the freezers to run for the last year as turning them off would require a total replacement of the system. The whole thing has been as well thought through as hosting an Olimpics.

Agreed, Japanese people seem to think there is an endless supply of marine life. Everything in moderation taught and practiced at an individual level is the only way to live a sustained life. One thing I do like is that there seems to be minimal waste once they murder a living thing....seems like they eat pretty much every thing vs some other cultures.
