"As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there's one thing that I think about: continuing to love one woman," wrote Maezawa, 44, on a website for applicants.

44 years old, rich, and still has to use advertising to get a girlfriend?

I'd say that besides the money, there isnt a lot about this guy that is attractive!

pathetic

I’m 100% certain that Maezawa will find a woman that truly loves him for who he is, not his money. It’s not as if the vast majority of Japanese women want a husband that acts like an ATM and is rarely home.

20 ( +24 / -4 )

I doubt he’ll find any decent girls with that way of going about it. Gold diggers galore.

18 ( +18 / -0 )

Applications close on Jan 17 and Maezawa will select his partner by the end of March

Proof that money doesn’t equal happiness. Boom. There you have it!

This guy is so boring, no wonder nobody wants to spend time with him. For the past month all he’s been screaming was look at me! Look at me! I’m cool!

8 ( +13 / -5 )

I can see the media here playing this up like any other middle aged guy who dedicated his life to his work and needs a "mail order bride" to spend his life with!

It really is pathetic, and I bet he gets a bunch of applications from the AKB48 types too!

What a loser

seeking single females aged over 20 for the show, which will be shown on streaming service AbemaTV.

Why don't they just call it what it is? A television show designed to line his pockets with even more money and for the network to benefit from it.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

I really wish his 15 minutes of fame would run out, but because he has money, he is able to buy more time. I can't think of anything he has done that has helped anybody but himself. He is a narcissistic, egomaniac, who only ever thinks about me, me ME!

7 ( +10 / -3 )

This guy dropped all that money to get laid? This must be a world record.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

so he's going to bring Shinjuku mindset to outer space what a wonderful human being

7 ( +9 / -2 )

"Japan's Bachelor" show in the works, I bet. Lol

When you have money to burn and you are bored

So what if he wants to start a new club. The 225,000 mile club.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Interesting and creepy at the same time.

Somebody should create a dating profile for "Alice Cramden".

2 ( +2 / -0 )

What a loser.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

That a billionaire "businesssman" at the age of 44 still has these amazing hopes and dreams.... its either an attestment to his beautiful and pure sole, or that he's a complete fool.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

How pathetic!!! Money can't buy happiness

6 ( +8 / -2 )

You know you're all levels of desperate when you use the media and your money to try to get a girlfriend. He just put himself out there on the gold diggers radar.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

My biggest hero is Marvin Gaye, so I'm all for anyone who want to "get down.... on a space bed!".

I have been saying along that Maezawa is crying out for help. He is longing for something that he can't find.

He needs either a friend, a hug, or a role-model!!!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I doubt he’ll find any decent girls with that way of going about it. Gold diggers galore.

In the same time, it seems he is planning to make money out of the recruitment process so that will be a match.

What a loser.

and the like

I do not think there is any point in insulting him. Quite possibly he is just making business. If not, he could be not doing so good and be in need of support.

I want to find a 'life partner'.

Should just do like everyone : go out, use dating app, friend of friend, ... because the way of recruitment will close lot of good opportunities and most likely just attract people which want fame, money and/or travel to space. Then he will be ditched as soon as other person objective is reached.

pathetic

What a loser

The guy's a billionaire. Must be he's a pathetic loser, lol

We're talking about strapping yourself onto the top of a rocket that might just explode on the launchpad or on the way up through the atmosphere or crash, as they sometimes do. Takes some guts.

the merits of the idea of basic income

Yeah! Gimme! I love the idea of getting something for nothing! Not! Giving money to people regardless of need is nonsense.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It’s pretty pathetic he has to advertise for a ‘girlfriend’. He’s a 44 year old billionaire, not a 16 year old high school student. Perhaps, money can buy love after all.

The use of the word ‘girlfriend’ seems to imply he only wants a playmate for the journey.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Literally money can't buy you happiness.... but it can buy a trip to the moon.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Oh.... he wanna be a sugar daddy?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Pathetic man if you cannot fulfill a woman basis need, money will not get you snub

1 ( +2 / -1 )

just a tip, ridiculous moustache aren't something that the girls like

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Be a man, aim for the moon !

Oups, he took it literally !

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Wasnt Ayane Gouriki enough? It seems that being a supermodel and a billionaire is not enough for a stable relationship

0 ( +1 / -1 )

just a tip, ridiculous moustache aren't something that the girls like

And the flared nostrils.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Poor guy. It's tough to find true love when you're that rich. And it's seems that's not even what he's looking for anyway. He probably just wants an ongoing series of playmates.

Most guys like him end up lonely and unfulfilled and so do the gold diggers who chase them.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Which came first, the money or the slow surge of narcissism?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

More shallow than a puddle

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I guess we know why he doesn't have a girlfriend despite being a billionaire.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

♫ Hallo Spaceboy ♫

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Going to the moon on your first date actually sounds quite romantic. Too bad it's with this guy.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Y'all can laugh and make fun of him all you want. That really won't stop women from lining up by the thousands to be his 'girlfriend' for the documentary and the space trip. And I dare say a number of them will be Western women. They too want their 15 mins of fame.....esp if a man is footing the bill.

Also, none of you will be condemning a woman billionaire if she had done the exact same thing and publicly advertises for a boyfriend.

Misandrists.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Fly me to the moon

Let me play among the stars

And let me see what spring is like

On a-Jupiter and Mars

In other words, hold my hand

In other words, baby, kiss me

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Can't I be future-widow that waits him at home ?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Money is not equal to happiness." This is just an excuse for being poor.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Wow. I doubt judging a woman by her appearance would be tolerated like this nowadays. Why do so for a man? Sxist both ways.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Does it absolutely have to be a woman? Wheres the application webpage?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

A family friend was a very successful entrepreneur who passed away not long ago, leaving hundreds of millions of dollars and a successful spin-off business to his only son, now in his late 20's.

The kid can't find a woman to settle down with, though he really wants to start a family. He feels that everyone is just after his money. There's probably some paranoia and cynicism thrown into the mix, but I don't envy his predicament. The money sure would be fun, but so is a wife and kid.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I would love to go to outer space !

Questions

What is your idea of love and world peace ?

Male allowed?

I'm not sure about lifetime but I'd like to apply as your partner.

Create a child in space. They've tested most things in antigravity.

Wait til you see the painting he dropped $110 million on, lol, it's shown on his website, as is the application form in English to be his life partner:

https://mz.abema.tv/en.html

I am gonna hafta start doodling again so I can make some serious money. If that painting can get $110 million, I should be able to get at least that much for my doodlings.

Sorry, Kenichi, only women applicants accepted.

zichi: Told the wife to apply!

LOL

With his big money he can buy a sex robot. They come in several varieties and with today's AI technology they can 'talk'.

Ever hear the song 'In Every Dream Home a Heartache' by Roxy Music?

His previous girlfriend looks hot. But apparently she had enough brains not to join him on this suicide project.

Is that problem not solvable? Just stay low-key and dont brag about the money. Maybe start a small business to explain the income? In case of Maezawa, yes with him all over the news, that might be difficult.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

More power to him--I wish him the best.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I'll go!

Oh bugger, just realised I'm a guy.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I do not want to be his girlfriend but I like to go to space with this funny simple man. He might be a younger brother.
