Nuclear war is horror? Sure it is. All war is horror.

A-bomb survivors' Nobel prize win highlights receding nuclear weapons taboo

More than this, their win highlights how the Nobel prize is losing its meaning.

Why would anyone downvote this?

As for the Noble Peace Prize, the strong suspicion is that they've been awarded it to avoid giving anything to health workers in Palestine. This year, realpolitik means its the "give it to anyone who doesn't embarrass Israel" prize.

The problem with the Nobel prizes is that they have to be given to someone even if there are no really good candidates.

Congratulations to Nihon Hidankyo for his successful efforts to attract the people's attention towards the dangers of the nuclear weapons. However, I don't understand one thing about Japan, why Japan is still having US army there in their country when they are the only country in the world to have used nuclear weapons against innocents and that too against the innocent Japanese? Shut them out from there to show real anger & remorse for those actions of theirs.

There is a story in the BBC today about Ukraine's profound regret at having given up nuclear weapons:

Not everybody feels a defenseless Japan is a good thing.

Then they should goto Tokyo to convince the Japanese government to sign the NPT and convince the US occupying forces to get out of Japan and South Korea due to their possession of nuclear weapons or nuclear powered weapons. Their efforts should focus on their own country being a nuclear free zone first, otherwise they were hypocritic !

Exactly.

Nihon Hidankyo's prize is not necessarily undeserved, but why this year? The health workers in Palestine were much more deserving of recognition than any prize winner in recent history, but indeed we must above all not embarrass Israel.

I wonder why Japan refuses to sign the ' nuclear weapons ban treaty ', considering the RS of the USA killed thousands of innocent children and others with atomic bombs. I guess the occupiers and masters have ordered them so.

Weapons are a massive burden on the tax payers resources. Though suited, booted, and decorated with colorful neckties, permanently trembling and frightened fellow mortals think weapons and nuclear weapons can add centuries to their life span. Fearless human beings are known to live their lives in style loving one another and caring for Planet Earth our common home.

And you would make sure that none of these health care workers participated in the Nov 6 massacre how?
