Oh boohoo! So Japanese are complaining they have to actually quarantine themselves in a foreign country and not "word of mouth" quarantine like in Japan. Have they been blocked from entering the country?
Alan Harrison
These Japanese workers live in China, and are therefore under the jurisdiction of China's rules. If they don't like it, they can always return to Japan permanently.

China is the last place you want to be during the pandemic. The authoritarian tactics used are inhumane. All for a similar survival rate as the flu about 99.98% according to CDC.

And hence why China has managed to get this pandemic under control. There is no way in hell a pandemic can ravage the country without anyone outside the country knowing about it. Only a country like North Korea can keep that sort of news from spreading. With freedom and liberty comes responsibility - something we haven't seen in many western countries.
marcelito:
Exactly. My exact sentiments. For the most part of last year, foreigners with Japanese visas were kept apart from their families and had to miss funerals and couldn't spend time with sick relatives because of the threat of being locked out of Japan. So, cry me a river.

Although I agree with some of the irnoy of Japanese people complaining that they actually having to follow anti covid-19 measures, I do feel sorry for them.
Not because of the strictness of China but the lack of flexibility the Japanese companies show. The companies still can't function in a remote capacity; In sales none the less. If you can't figure out remote sales you've got no hope for anything else. One of these lads has just had a kid whom he hasn't met. Pennies on the pound if that guy asked to be transferred home it would be rejected. If he took the paternity leave he's entitled to by law we'll have another Glen Wood case.
I feel China has made a tough call which has made living there a little inconvenient. The Japanese companies have made it unworkable.

That's frustrated?
Even the guy who hasnt met his baby seemed to be just like reciting what he had for breakfast.
Anyway i guess its good that everyone will be treated the same as regards vaccination passport if this rumor is true:

They can for sure, if they are ready to loose their jobs. These expats depend on the good will of their companies, and considering they have a management position, knowing the flexibility of most companies here, they should mentally be ready for drastic changes.

Wow, you really think China did a great job handling the pandemic and actually believe their numbers?? You are really misinformed to say the least.
FYI: According to the data, China has only 89K cases for 1.4 billion people and been in the 80 thousands cases for about a year since Feb 2020. That is only 62 cases per million people. Deaths have been the same at 4600 since April 2020, which is 3 deaths per million people. That would mean they are outperforming countries like S. Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia by several thousand percent.

You should watch NTD News (New Tang Dynasty News) owned by Chinese. You will see a glimpse of what is really going on in China. They have the most insider information on China and have facts/documents/video/whistleblowers to prove their articles not hearsay. Communist China has very little in freedom and liberty.

My friends husband is working there. She seems OK here. She misses him but told me it is difficult to be a wife to a Japanese salaryman. Cooking, cleaning, serving sake.
Jonathan Prin
No sympathy either for people who put work before family.
World is not limited to China with its beautiful democracy and universally known level of freedom of speech.
therougou
True. We don't know the details though. Maybe they planned to move to China after the wife got back on her feet. She could be staying at her parents' like many Japanese do after giving birth.

I dont think the CCP needs any excuses to ramp up control so the measures must be for controlling spread of infection.

Poor guy...he has to play golf every day in Beijing. If I find a minute I will shed a little tear for him....lol
shogun36
Yeah......you don't want anything less than a 10 day holiday. The nerve of some countries allowing their people to rest. Blasphemy!!!!!

The foreigners in Japan should count themselves lucky with the light touch but sensible approach of the Japanese government.
They probably won't last a day in China with her draconian tactics and hence they are still here and not there despite their incessant whining.
Garthgoyle
So according to you there are no foreigners in China? I thought the article was about foreigners in China.

No thanks, I'd rather steer clear of anything associated with The Epoch Times, a pro-Trump media organization that spreads propaganda and conspiracy theories related to covid-19.
Yeah, I do, compared to the absolute chaos in US and UK. As I said, you can't hide a pandemic on that scale. And I NEVER said I believed their numbers. Stop putting words in other people's mouths. That's a common tactic used the loony tunes.

Frustration vs captivity are two separate issues. The rug was pulled out from this group for non-covid reasons. These unfortunates are now subject to the CCP microscope. Lab rats in the game of future trespasses, conquests and land grabs...
elephant200
Everyone is same, not just the Japanese! For the Chinese, such measure is very inconvenient but think about safety first!

Have you been to China? I am Chinese/Japanese and have spent plenty of time in China. CCP absolutely has the ability to hide the what is going on in China from the outside world. CCP uses aggressive tactics to silence dissent, criticism, or whistleblowers. Take for instance, Li Wenliang: the Wuhan coronavirus whistleblower. He was arrested and was forced to say his comments about the coronavirus were false. That has happened countless times.
On top of that, CCP is able to block everything from the outside world to Chinese citizens via the Great Firewall and use only state controlled news to Chinese citizens. On top of that, You should try researching and reading articles other than extremely liberal media sources like CNN, Huffpost, and NY Times.
