COVID-19 vaccine discounts for customers catch on at eateries, hotels

I do not need a discount. But I sure like eating at a place where everyone allowed to enter are vaccinated people. My chances of getting sick is almost zero. In this pandemic we have to think of others' health conditions and not only about me.

So by that view the fact I don't let anyone in my store wearing shoes is also a form of discrimination.

It is actually a form of discrimination when implemented now, because the majority of working-age population in Japan have no access to vaccines until at least October, if not next year. Shoes you can buy if you want, but vaccines, even if you have money, you need good connections to obtain access.

Only the elderly and those working in top tier companies with connections to the government was able to obtain access, so it is definitely discriminating against the common folks.

Good question. The person at the vaccine center asking you questions about your general health and if you have any allergies etc has to be a medical doctor. So he may well be able to answer your concerns. Obviously in Japanese. Other languages could be a problem.

so while the unvaccinated in some countries are being told the vaccine is the only way to eliminate the virus, in other countries where the population is already mostly vaccinated, the citizens are being told that the vaccine doesn't work and a third shot is on the horizon.

@Antiquing: If the root canal was already done, then your wife just needs someone to replace the temporary filling with a permanent one and make sure no residual bacteria causing remains left. Easy.

My long time dentist is down the rabbit hole anti covid vaccine.

She now refuses to treat not only those vaccinated but anyone that has a family member that is vaccinated living in the same home.

She stopped mid treatment of my wife's root canal when she found out my daughter was vaccinated.

Now she refuses to finish the job or treat any of our family anymore.

She has destroyed her practice and she will now be forced to close as she has lost well over 80% of her clients.

Now we have to find a dentist to complete my wife's root canals.

While the efforts may promote more people to get vaccinated, some warn such discounts could lead to peer pressure against people who are reluctant to receive the vaccine.

If individuals don't feel peer-pressure in getting vaccinated to prevent themselves or others from getting sick and dying, why in the world should I worry about them feeling peer-pressure to get a discount?

In a country where you constantly see discounts for those under 30, under 40 etc., this is nothing. At least you have a choice. You can't choose to get younger!

I don't know if you read my posts, but me and my Wife had our 2 shots already.

I was sick for one day, high fever, headache like hell.

But my wife was sick for 3 days. She couldn't stand up from her futon.

She also couldn't go to work.

And now, we hear that even if you are vaccined you can spread the virus in the same way with the same viral amount. That really dissapoints me, because, if that is true, the vaccine lost 50% of its sense.

I knew that I can get infected, and I knew I can spread it. But I thought in a much lower possibility than an unvaccinated person.

And we hear now, that we probably need a booster shot.

3rd time? How strong will the side effects are?

I will take my booster if necessary, but it will take a lot of work to convince my wife for the 3rd booster shot.

So sometimes, I really can understand the anti vaxxers stance.

Hey try coming to my store with that attitude or idea.

No mask, no vaccine, try coming in with your shoes on, or not follow any of my rules.

You will find yourself out on in the street, refuse to you will be introduced to my local police officer that comes by on his daily rounds.

My business my rules, if a say all customers need to wear a blue shirt then as silly as a rule like that would be that would be my right!

I would be very interested if you or anyone knows how to get any kind of medical exemption. I do have an absolute good reason for not taking the vaccine offered to me (tizer version). However as much as I have tried to discuss this with a person who is qualified to understand my concerns so far I have been unsuccessful.

Essentially I had alergic reactions to two other vaccines one as a child and one as an adult. I expect there are many people who have concerns but can not find any real advice other than we have given it to a million people with not real problems so its a low risk.

Personally the chances the virus will cause me harm compared to the vaccine that may render me blind for the rest of my life is something I would very much like to discuss but that option is just not out there at the moment.

I am though against the United States giving monetary incentives to those not vaccinated. Could sort of make people lie, get a free booster shot and a monetary reward at the same time.

Yes since all countries with new rising cases are reporting that 80% to 90% of severe cases are non vaccinated.

Meaning the vaccine is working and fewer people are getting sick even fewer getting severely sick.

In North America they are trying lotteries to get people to get vaccinated.

Well, not exactly accurate. The vaccines DO work and ARE working but may need a booster is probably a better way to put it.

I like the idea, even though I haven't even been able to book my first shot yet, let alone my second. But the anti-vaccination / troll movement we see everywhere, including here, has convinced me even more of the accuracy of 性悪説.

I think it is good idea because people are always looking out for themselves. However, it will only work with better access to vaccinations for everyone.

The wait for a Japanese alternative is not a bright idea.

Mostly likely Japan's attempt to make the vaccine without the current side effects in a short period of time will probably mean a less effective vaccine like the ineffective vaccines produced in Russia and China.

Shouldn't this be the response once you actually offer vaccines to everyone? Discounts only for those lucky enough to have gotten a life-saving vaccine? Seems a bit rude not gonna lie.

Sure, but your will to expose yourself to infections should not affect my safety.

If you are fine hiding in your house and not interacting with anyone we have no problems with your free will, but if you are interacting with others then you need to obey the society's will.

This should only be a thing once everyone who wants to be vaccinated has been vaccinated. This will be several months from now in the chronically slow Japan.

In my opinion it is very wrong to shame people for not receiving a vaccine that has only gone through a limited testing period if their reasons are based on concerns about negative health effects. Most expats here are probably with a doctor that has limited health record information and knows nothing about their health history back at home, so how is it that these doctors are able to make a valid decision overriding your brain that is able to weigh dozens of years of events together in a matter of seconds? While doctors have a lot of knowledge about medicine, do they know the exact details and history about you? You should always have the right to decline a vaccine IMO.

Another propaganda activity. Maybe first distribute the vaccines and allow people to have vaccine access. Shinjuku vaccinations are instantly filled (thanks to having so few slots available to begin with) with no availability until October despite being one of the hardest hit region.

The vaccination drives are nothing but for show, opening up a few hundred or fee thousand slots per months for cities and wards with populations of hundreds of thousands. Government clearly delaying the vaccine distribution to save the market for domestic vaccines which will be barely tested and likely ineffective.
